I suggest that you download the free 90 day trial and use both in> should I leave well enough alone and stay with a known working app? > One of the reasons I started looking at upgrading was the fact that I > uncovered an article that stated my version of MS Money 2004 would expire > September 2006. Stay alert during install to make sure the trial does not uninstall your Money 2004 version. Then you can run both one at a time. Note that if you set up a Canadian bank from scratch, click C; the names in Money are prefixed with Canada-. If you decide to stay with Money 2004, after trying 2007, I suggest you do not uninstall the trial. Otherwise you will have to reinstall Money 2004, and perhaps there could be a glitch there. | I acquired MS Money 2004 Standard in Canada two years ago and although it is the US version, I am able to manually download chequing, PLC and credit card transactions from my Royal Bank of Canada accounts. Todate, everything is working fine and I am thinking of upgrading to the most current version of MS Money. In the Canadian market the most current version is MS Money 2006 Canadian. Some of the reviews I have read of this version are more negative than positive. For the US market there is MS Money 2007 with three different versions. The MS Money 2007 version that most matches my current set-up is the MS Money 2007 Deluxe version. My questions become: 1) Would I be able to use MS Money 2007 Deluxe in a Canadian banking environment (knowing that I must manually download which is not an issue)? 2) If YES to question 1), are there any issues about importing my MS Money 2004 Standard data files into MS Money 2007 Deluxe? 3) Considering the MS Money 2004 Standard seems to work without any hitches should I leave well enough alone and stay with a known working app? One of the reasons I started looking at upgrading was the fact that I uncovered an article that stated my version of MS Money 2004 would expire September 2006. Alarming as this was, I was able to ascertain that the expiration comment was related to the Internet Online Services (which I do not use) and that manual downloads would still be allowed. However, the upgrade seed was planted! I have sent a like request to the Royal Bank of Canada to determine if there are any technical issues from their point of view that would prevent me from upgrading to the 2007 version. Thanks in advance for any comments / suggestions. Regards, Bob Archell |
