To test for that, you could change all of the <FITID> values in your experiment where you had changed the <ACCTID> value. Maybe even change the <TRNUID> . I can't say that I predict it will change things, but if the you were to change all occurrences of "<FITID> " to "<FITID> x", that would accomplish that. However when you restored an old backup that had never seen the original OFX, and your munged OFX crashed when you imported to the IRA, I guess it makes the above test irrelevant. - quote - > I changed the ACCTID

I have never got an IRA file to import properly. I just changed ACCTID in the "bad" IRA file and tried to import it to the nonIRA account--CRASH. I noticed that the <TICKER> and <UNIQUEID> for the suspected problem <OTHERINFO> is identical. This changes with every download, therefore, it never matches the symbol in Money (There is no symbol for this investment, it's an annuity). I am wondering if you take an OFX file that imported fine into the IRA, and change the account ID to import it into a non-IRA in the same file, would there also be a problem. The mode I am thinking of is the Money file remembering that that same FITID was already read into another account. You can use the File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair and File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair level 2. Level 1 would remove your custom reports. As another test, you could File-> Restore your oldest backup, but not to the default name. Instead name it something like OFXtest001. See if your test OFX files File-> Import there. Regarding my reference to the 1.6 spec, a paragraph number in a specification can be useful if you email the brokerage about a flaw in their OFX file. |

You are referring to three accounts in the same Money file? When I was testing, OFXAnalyzer was accepting or failing the OFX files too. It was not just Money. Also, I tried the files into Money 2006 too. Try OFXAnalyzer on your downloaded the OFX file for the non-IRA account, and try OFXAnalyzer again on your modified file which fails to load into Money 2006. Do they both pass OFXAnalyzer? You could also try loading the files into a test file. I assume you are testing with a copy of your file. Don't overwrite your backups. It could be some kind of corruption, but I would not count on that at this point. | Mark, I responded too soon. Cal, if you are there, this is for you too. The 2 accounts that do not crash also have this same situation. UNIQUEID with a decimal and a 10 digit whole number. Something else is the real problem, I fear. I was sending the broker a terse message and decided to check this situation before I sent it--didn't send the message. Since the regular account downloads OK, I saved and imported it OK also. I changed the ACCTID to that of the IRA account and imported it. This same file crashed the program this time. Something is wrong with my file I think. But starting a new account does the same thing. Money 2003 downloads and imports to this account OK. What could the real problem be? That same 9-digit number (and/or letters) should also replace the other occurrence of 0232004331.00000000 in the file if you want the position data for that security to be used. |

| Mark, That does fix the problem, but you have to take one more step. I deleted the decimal and the zeros, however that makes the UNIQUEID 10 digits long and it again crashes. Reduce it to 9 digits and it works fine. Money 06 must be really sensitive. Now all I have to do is get the broker, a big national broker, to change their format. Thanks Mark and Cal "Mark" <abcd[at]abcd.com> wrote in message news:u2Ie9m7vGHA.4296[at]TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... - quote - > The problem is likely due to the the UNIQUEID. > It should be an integer, but with the period and zeros inserted it is no > longer an interger. > Try removing the period and zeros and see if it imports. > This is a problem that the broker needs to correct. > -Mark |

What I had not tried is to fix the UNIQUEID and adding the UNITPRICE> It should be an integer, but with the period and zeros inserted it is no > longer an interger. > Try removing the period and zeros and see if it imports. > This is a problem that the broker needs to correct. in the *same* test. It needs both. | The problem is likely due to the the UNIQUEID. It should be an integer, but with the period and zeros inserted it is no longer an interger. Try removing the period and zeros and see if it imports. This is a problem that the broker needs to correct. -Mark "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:7novd21dqgijl82pkn5lf458shfacisp0o[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, R. | It took 2 tries on each file, but it finally worked on both files. Now, is this a broker file problem or a Money 06 problem? I guess I will have to save every download and check for the <POSOTHER> tag. Is this tag unique to IRA files or is it just happenstance that it occurred in the IRA files? You certainly went above and beyond on this one. Thanks Cal, put yourself in for a raise! I hope all this work on your part helps others that may have this problem. That makes the difference for me. I have no OFX files that use a POSOTHER for comparison, so I don't know why it would be a problem. It just the IRA files that crash! into a reply post after modifying the personal information. Personal information would include things like the info immediately following a <ACCTID> I suggest replacing any potentially sensitive numbers with # and letters with Z. In fact you might remove the whole section starting with <INVPOSLIST> and ending with </INVPOSLIST> . You could #-out the numbers between <INVBAL> and </INVBAL> . You could Z-out the broker after <BROKERID> if you liked. Look for the string "BALANCE" to see if there are any remaining numbers you would like to #-out. One last thing: I think we have already established that this is not the problem, but check to see if you have any "&" characters that are not part of these five characters: "&". OK here is an even easier thing to try first. Copy the first part of the file, down thru where it says <OFX> , into a reply. That section will not have any personal info. |
