| This is not a known issue and honestly this is the first time ive seen it can I suggest closing money going to your file and double clicking on it the reason its going to the A drive is because you are trying to Backup rather then restore follow the below listed steps Step1: Go to your file saved on your HD and double click Step2: For the restore location click browse choose My Documents and type in MyMoney for the file name Step3: Enjoy If these steps do not work or you can not find the file go to start search all files and folders type in *.mny in the All or part of the file name and let the computer find it for you If you are still having the issues just ask All we need is the question to help you we dont need the rant. But anyhow Happy Holidays -- Steve steven_morrison69[at]hotmail.com "Mike" <Mike[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:33BA7203-CE35-433F-9950-5F320AFDE222[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I am having the same problem with Money 07, among thousand of others. > Given > this and the several pages of other problems with Money 07, one must ask, > did > not a single person at MS consider to install this program to a computer > and > see what it does (does not) do before they printed all the CD's? | I have no problem navigating anywhere, even My Network Places, to restore a backup in M07. I do not and never have used a Passport/Hotmail address. In short, I'm not sure what your issues are, but they are hardly universal with M07. Perhaps, if you want help rather than a place to vent, you should start with some demographics like which edition of M07 you are trying to use? Why are you trying to restore a backup from M04 rather than just opening the .MNY file directly? What makes you think you must have a Hotmail address? | I would consider going from Money 2004 to Money 2007 a downgrade, not an upgrade... | Thank you for the link, but none of the troubleshoot suggestions worked exactly. I had to uninstall 2007 and re-install 2004. Once 2004 was up and working with my file, I then I used the standard file repair feature of 2004. The funny thing is that the file worked fine in 2004, no errors. I then install 2007 again and used the repaired file and it converted and opened. Frustrating upgrade path...but I am up and working. | I just install my new copy of ms money 2007. When it wants to convert my existing 2004 money file it prompts me with an error saying (paraphrasing here since the message is long and it cannot be copied) "Money cannot locate '<file> ' or cannot open it...read-only...do not have permissions to...write protected..." I tried all the suggestion...checked permissions...tried opening my backup file...shut down all apps that might have a lock on the file...anti-virus, desktop search, etc The more info button is useless and takes me to a support page with EVENT ID: obres:5101 and the bold words, "We're Sorry" I then tried their online support, but it couldn't find a correct Product ID (either automatically or manually typing it in) and I just don't feel like sitting on the phone. I have MS 2007 16.0.120.621 on a Win XP sp2 (all updates) If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. |
