| Most times the update fails is because of settings in IE or a firewall or antivirus blocking the installer/updater to check ie settings you can try the following steps and try to reupdate also suggest temporary disabling any security software Step1: Open up Internet Explorer Step2: Go to tool> Internet Options Step3: Click Clear History, Delete Files, Delete Cookies (In IE7 choose Delete Browsing History then you should see the options to delete the three) Step4: At the top of the screen click the security tab Step5: Left click on Internet once then click default level--Repeat for Local Intranet Trusted Sites, And Restricted Sites Step6: At the top of the screen click the privacy tab then click advanced Step7: Put a check in "Override Automatic Cookie Handling" also set First and Third party cookies to ACCEPT and check always allow session cookies and click OK Step8: At the top of the screen choose advanced and at the bottom right hand corner click restore defaults and then click ok "donkuok" <donkuok[at]yahoo.com.sg> wrote in message news:0C87E07E-AE14-45EC-B33D-21C791AD6B6F[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I have IE 7 Finalised version (not beta pls!) installed and the program > update crash after downloading. Then in IE6, start with Tools-> Options-> Security-> LocalIntranet-> DefaultLevel which may be sufficient. If not sufficient, you can try the default level for the Internet zone and the TrustedSites zone. Then also in IE6, Tools-> Options-> Advanced-> RestoreDefaults. Try the conversion then. To restore your security settings to what you had previously, you can Start-> Programs-> Accessories-> SystemTools-> SystemRestore to restore you computer to an earlier time using the restore point you had created. If you were to test after each step, you might be able to deduce what the limiting factor is. - quote - > I am not at all sure what the problem is. > Any ideas? > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Marc wrote: > > > > Hi, > > > > > I have turned off the Windows Firewall, which is the only one I have. | The only sure solution is the new user account which you've already confirmed worked (there are no current updates to 2007, so that behavior is correct). In addition to what Cal suggested, you could try completely removing all versions of Money (and the MSN Money Toolbox) via Control Panel, then after making sure that your data file is safe in a different location (e.g. My Documents) and that you have at least one good backup, delete any remaining Money folders: the Money installation folders, the Money folders under Documents and Settings (both your sign-in and the "All Users") under Application Data - Microsoft (and under Local Settings - App Data - Microsoft) Then try reinstalling (the MSN Money Toolbox first, if you are using the MSN Money website). But, it may end up being that there is something in this profile that is blocking the proper install. -Mark "Marc" <Marc[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E958D98D-0321-4D05-B83B-7E4890ACF354[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Hi cal, > I double checked that all is as you suggested. | Hi cal, I double checked that all is as you suggested. Yet again the same thing happens. When I sign into my data file I get the dialog to update my Money. It first says it cannot close Money whereas it fact it has. When I click OK it lists files it is downloading. Then it shows progress in %. When it gets to 99% it says it can't complete the update and I should install the Update. I am not at all sure what the problem is. Any ideas? | Hi, I tried both suggestions. With my orginial M2007 file, I start Money and enter the password for my file. It opens, after opening the Internet connection. I then get a dialog saying that Money 2007 needs an update. When I press OK, it starts to compress the data file and then says it can't close Money. Meanwhile Money closes. I press OK on this dialog. After about 3 seconds, there is a new dialog saying that it is now ready to download the new files. Another dialog starts saying that Microsoft Money Update installs the new software. It shows the progress in %. When it gets to 99% there is a new dialog saying " Money was unable to install this update" I also tried setting up a new user with Admin rights and using Money to set up a new file. When I did this, Money didn't ask for an update at all. If that does not let you updated, and if you are using XP, I would try creating a new user with Administrator privilege. Switch to that user and start Money with a new blank file. Let Money download the updates as that user. The theory is that if the problem is an IE6 setting, you will get default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and your regular IE6 settings will not have been changed. |

| I have the same problem, Money 2007 starts and opens my data file, says it needs to upgrade. It downloads files and then after about 10 minutes says it cannot upgrade check the internet connection. I have 16.0.150.621 I can press cancel and get on and use Money but every time I open this file I get the message. I do not have IE 7. Any ideas? Thanks "Sylvain" wrote: - quote - > Everytime I start Money 2007 I have a pop up window asking me to update > Money and press OK. > Which I do and it close Money and suppose to update Money files but it > doesn't. | Just a follow-up on this issue: Read a post later on in this group that suggested the problem might lie with an incompatability with IE7 beta and Money 2007. Yep. That was it. I uninstalled the IE7 Beta 3, rebooted, ran Money 2007, let the auto-patch do it's thing (went without a hitch), reinstalled IE7, and after another reboot, was back to normal. All is well here now. | If you have the IE7 beta installed, try uninstalling it. When I did that, the update ran normally. |

| I'm having this exact same problem, when it's updating the core program itself. It closes down Microsoft Money 2007 and says it's done downloading the update files, but when it goes it install, it closes and a 'Send Error' box comes up saying an error has caused 'Microsoft Money Update Utility" has closed Money 2007. This happens every single time. What's wrong? "Sylvain" wrote: - quote - > i'm talking about updating the main core program to the latest version.
