| Thanks, but I started there, before posting here - no help. In the meantime I've downloaded the 2007 trial and it could open my file with the password, so I guess I will now have to buy 2007 whether I want it or not. Talk about a forced upgrade ... oh, well. Thanks, Zoli |

| Indeed, so the program is uptodate, there must be something about the PC's setting that prevents Money from accpting the password. BTW, it also does not allow me to open the file "local only" without the passport... I am stuck. The same file still works on the old PC. With M2005 it is the 1105 part of the version number that is absolutely critical. | Thanks, Bob, I used the same Money install CD as on the pevious laptop, it's Money 2004dlx. Of course on the old laptop it had all the Money updates.... As a test I created a new Money file without password, then clicked to update Money from the Internet - so I assume by now the program has to be identical. Then I tried the Passport login and it would not recognize it again... I am clueless... Thanks for any help. | That problem often means that you haven't got the same version of Money on the two machines. In this case it suggests that the new laptop has the older version. Try copying sample.mny across - which presumably hasn't had a password applied. If you hit the same problem then it is definitely a version mis-match. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | What PC-dependent settings can make an identical copy of Money (2004 dlx) file not accept the password (MS Passport) on one machine, and accept it on another? - I moved to a new laptop - copied the Money file - new laptop has WinXP profile associated with Passport - IE cookies are turned on - manually signed in to passport.com Money does not accept my passport log in. Yet if I go back to the old laptop, the same login info is accepted. I'm clueless ... thanks for any help. Zoli |
