| I found that adding a character like an asterik or a period to the downloaded Payee Name DID NOT make Money ask for payee confirmation. HOWEVER, I did find that if I simply add a space between two of the words OR delete one letter, THEN Money will ask me to confirm the Payee. At this point I can say no. Then this downloaded payee is not added to my Payee List, but I still have all the Payee information that was downloaded. This is one extra step that I SHOULDN'T have to take, but it will work for me until Microsoft fixes this problem (maybe in 2011). | Yes, you are right. It is just the downloaded transactions that cause me this problem. In the past versions I knew I was asked to confirm sometimes and then I wasn't asked at other times... I just never investigated to figure out why. I am doing this now because I'm tired of scanning my payee list and deleting all those payees that creep in over time. I did find a work around solution I can use... I can just add a character to the downloaded payee, maybe I'll use a * or something like that, and then it will ask me to confirm (or deny) the payee. To make this work I'll just have to remember to add the * every time. | "Confirm payees" -- along with "require a category" -- don't work on downloaded transactions. At least, they don't for me and haven't for several years now. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Anna" <rhodesbiz[at]bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:1154705707.103328.129900[at]i3g2000cwc.googlegroups.com... - quote - > I have "confirm payees" option checked in M07, but I do not receive the > "confirm payee" question for all new payees. | I don't know if this helps, but have you added GAS-N-GO to your "Preferred Payee List"? -- BLLingg "Anna" wrote: - quote - > I have "confirm payees" option checked in M07, but I do not receive the > "confirm payee" question for all new payees. | I have "confirm payees" option checked in M07, but I do not receive the "confirm payee" question for all new payees. Here is an example of the problem: I go to buy gasoline at Gas-N-Go while out of town, charge it on my credit card, and then download my transactions when I get home. Since I do not have a Gas-N-Go in my town, then I do not have that payee or anything similar in my list So it is a NEW payee any way you look at it. The transaction for gasoline "GAS-N-GO ATLANTA" downloads as my payee (always in caps). If I click OK, then GAS-N-GO ATLANTA is added to my payee list WITHOUT ASKING me to confirm. Now, if I CHANGE the downloaded payee in any way to something like Gas-N-Go, THEN it will ask me to confirm the new payee. Either way, it is a new payee. But is only asking me to confirm if I change the downloaded name. I would like to keep the downloaded payee name since it identifies place, store #, etc., but NOT have it added to my payee list. So how can I get Money to ALWAYS ask for payee confirmation???? |
