You can create a cash account named Cash or whatever you choose.> set up a checking account through CEFCU and I am just curious as to how when > I spend money on a day to day basis it knows what im spending it through? When you withdraw your ATM money, you can enter that as a SPECIAL transfer to the Cash account. Enter transactions into the Cash account when you like. At various times, enter an expense transaction for Miscellaneous into the Cash account to account for the stuff you did not care to itemize. You can choose to record more detail or less detail. For the least detail, you can enter the ATM withdrawal as an expense transaction for Miscellaneous. |

| I am currently running Microsoft Money 2006 Deluxe addition. I am about to set up a checking account through CEFCU and I am just curious as to how when I spend money on a day to day basis it knows what im spending it through? I am very very new to this whole scene of things. I am only 21 but I know that if I start these things young enough I will be well prepared for life so here I am. What I guess im not getting is, when I have my Spending Tracker track how much gas im buying through-out a month does that mean I have to use a credit card registered on here or a check through my bank to pay for it with? If I buy gas with 20$ in cash, obviously this program is not able to find that out. So in order to truly use the spending tracker I have to buy all my entertainment, gas, and food with a check or credit card/debit card? Or of I am going out to a club I might hit the bank up and grab 100$ from the atm. It doesnt ask me to punch in what im using that cash for. So if I go to an atm to withdraw then go spend it on entertainment, how does it know where that cash went? I assume I can punch into the Money Program what the last 100$ withdrawn on my account balance page was used for, then in turn it will automatically plug that into the correct Spending Tracker. I've been known to be wrong though...not often mind you =) Just trying to grasp this a bit better, havent found anything explaining it too well. I do apologize if this question seems idiotic or anything, but we all have to start from somewhere and im just trying to figure it all out so please any advice or tips anyone has id greatly appreciate. |
