Actually the folders are probably not read-only. If you look closely,> and I cannot change it (or any other directory in Program Files) the checkbox will be grey. This is an annoying behavior of Windows XP... it shows ALL folders this way. -Rod |

I am sorry to hear it.It is possible that your *.mny file could be fixed up by a newer version of salv.exe. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902466/en-us Unfortunately salv.exe will not work on a *.mbf file. You could also install the trial version of Money 2007 and see if it would somehow be able to deal with your *.mbf file. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Eric Sank wrote: > > > > I get the same error when it tries to restore the backup to the my docs > > > directory also. choosing that copy. When you restore, do not use the default name orCopy the *.mbf file to your MyDocuments folder. Then File-> Restore location. Instead Browse to your MyDocuments folder, and choose a new name for the file, such as Eric03. - quote - > "Eric Sank" wrote: > > I had a bad hard drive failure, but was able to recover my .mny file. > > However with a new hard drive and Money 2003 installed, I get an error > > message saying "Cannot locate Money Database.mny file or cannot access it, > > possibly because it is read only or don't have permission. > > > I have gone through all the KB articles regarding this - changed read only > > status, ran file repair utilty and got no errors in log etc, but still can't > > access file. > > > Although the .mny file is not read only, the directory is listed read only, > > and I cannot change it (or any other directory in Program Files) > > > Any help would be appreciated. > |

| I had a bad hard drive failure, but was able to recover my .mny file. However with a new hard drive and Money 2003 installed, I get an error message saying "Cannot locate Money Database.mny file or cannot access it, possibly because it is read only or don't have permission. I have gone through all the KB articles regarding this - changed read only status, ran file repair utilty and got no errors in log etc, but still can't access file. Although the .mny file is not read only, the directory is listed read only, and I cannot change it (or any other directory in Program Files) Any help would be appreciated. |
