| No, not quite. This is the problem. Money will let me assign the same bank. However, this is what happens. It changes my checking account (held at the same bank) to the new account (as evidenced by the account balance and transactions). While following advice in previous posts on this thread I found a work around (see previous post). Thanks Steve! | Penny, So this is an account that you want to add (not for Online Access) and Money won't let you tie it to a bank you already have listed? If so, try giving a slightly different name to the Bank. For example if you have First National Bank, tell Money that it is with First Natl Bank. Then once you set up the account, go to the other account and change it from First National Bank to First Natl Bank. If it lets you do that, then you can later change name of bank. Or try changing the bank first to a wrong name so you can create with a new name that will work. You see what I mean. Then run the file repair on your money account. | Ok, I looked to see whther or not I signed up for Passport. I wasn't signed up for it. I previously checked inot whether or not I actually had to choose a financial institution. Money will not let you name one. But it does have a small link "My bank or brokerage isn't listed". I set the account up by following the link and entering information at the prompts. I then opened the account and chose "Change Account Settings". I then chose the financial institution and everything appears to be OK. Thank you very much for your help! I think you may have inadvertently set this up for online access.> Money to work online at this time I prefer to do everything manually. If you want to remove the Passport from a file you may have to turn off background banking at Tools-> Settings-> AccessYourMoneyDataOnTheWeb and then File-> PasswordManager you can choose to remove your Passport. If this does not apply, just tell Money that the institution is named "particular banks name Checking" - quote - > Penny > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, PR7 wrote: > > > > In Money, I have an checking account set up for a particular bank. | Thanks Cal, but this doesn't apply. I am the only user and I have not set up Money to work online at this time I prefer to do everything manually. | In Money, I have an checking account set up for a particular bank. I have since opened a new credit card account with the same bank. When I try add this account via. Account List- Add a New account - Choose account type (select credit card) - (Choose the bank) - I get the message "Your account list already contains accounts with (particular banks name). After Money updates your accounts, review the account list to see if it shows duplicate copies of any accounts... click "OK". If I click OK Money changes the exiting accounts type to a credit card account instead of adding the additional account at the same bank. I didn't have this problem when I added the checking and savings account at the same bank when I first set them up. Of course at the time the program asked if I had additional accounts at the same bank. How can I add additional accounts to the same financial institution after the original setup opportunity? Thanks in advance for your help! Penny |
