It would be on the Status bar (bottom). In IE6, View-> StatusBar will
toggle whether the status bar shows. Double-clicking the padlock
should bring up certificate information.

The purpose of this is to see if you can access
https://www99.americanexpress.com/ and have it decode the SSL
correctly.

Three questions:

What program are you using?

Have you installed IE7?

If you go to
https://www99.americanexpress.com/
do you get a screen that says "The American Express web site is
located at http://www.americanexpress.com" and is the padlock symbol
that shows successful connection to a secure website looking normal?

http://www.ameriprise.com/amp/global...ey-quicken.asp
is a help page, but it does not seem to address your symptoms.

Default setup online update for investment account

I start to setup online update but when it asks for user id and
password ihe message returned is that the id or password were invalid,
yet when I go to the web page of the firm that has the investment and
use the same id and password I have no trouble logging on. the
investment firm is amerprise. any help or pointers to any info that
may help will be appreciated
