| Not at all. I already had free billpay with my usual account, Compass. I also have it free with Netbank, both of which work through MS Money. So since it was free, I tied MSN Billpay to my wife's small local checking account (which has billpay only on their clunky online service for $5.95 also). We didn't use it much and it wasn't really necessary. MSN Billpay worked well and I had no complaints with it, though I think $5.95 is a bit steep. A lot of people have direct debits, and I find that where I used to have 20 or so a month, I often have just 5-10 now. Money ought to provide it free with Deluxe and Premium to give people a reason to upgrade, the way they used to. Otherwise, they ought to charge a flat annual fee (like $35). But if your local bank doesn't offer billpay through Money, it is a good service. I didn't like how it was done in Money06. It would link the account to MSN but not download your transactions and reconcile for you. MSN ought to take over that function too for that fee. It was clunky to log onto the web site, download the OFX statement to find out if the checks had cleared. I don't know what enhanced MSN billpay is. Maybe it does this now. I am a bit surprised that it is 2006 and that this has not been standardized so that all banks have billpay and reconciliation automatically into quicken and money. I wouldn't have an account any where else. I left AmSouth years ago because of this. It worked because soon thereafter they supported Money and Quicken with direct 2-way services. | That's correct. $5.95 Steve, if you don't mind saying, are you using a free service that ties into Money or just using your Bank's web page interface for paying your bills? | No, they dropped that with Money 06 (or was it 05). I canceled my MSN Billpay in June as I was about to have to start paying for it. Supposedly they will start charging you for it when your free years run out. 5.95 a month, I think.
