| I've never even supplied it a Passport. Without that, it has no way to put any data up on MSN Money. | So, you've added a new FI download in M07. M05+ added a new wrinkle called third party downloads. These use Yodlee.com or similar screen scrapers as an intermediary to get the data from your bank's web site human-readable pages to some intermediate form that MSN Money then puts in their database. To get if from their database to your local file, they just repurposed Sync With The Web--which not enough of us were using anyway. It's the price you have to pay to get data from those institutions that Yodlee knows how to scrape but that refuse to support a better interface --direct connection via exposed OFX--for you and Money to get at your data. See also http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=175 and http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx. Note that for WaMu it says: ========================== Washington Mutual Bank Main: https://online.wamu.com/IdentityManageme nt/Logon.aspx Additional Information and Services Statements Direct Services* are the fastest, easiest way to connect with your financial institution and have your statements automatically downloaded into Money. * This service is provided by a third party provider, not your financial instituition. It is only available if you have Microsoft Money 2005 or later. You will need to use Microsoft .NET Passport in order to access your account information. Your financial institution may offer an alternative means of downloading statements and transactions from their web site into Microsoft Money 2004 and earlier. Please contact them for more information. ========================== (Note that Direct Connection is good, but "Direct Connection* *This service is provided by a third party provider" is code for Yodlee, et al. Note also that "You will need to use Microsoft .NET Passport in order to access your account information" is code for 'and your data will get pushed onto MSN web servers as part of the bargain.') | Hi Cal: No, it's WaMu. I didn't have it setup to download my transactions in Money 2003. I think back when I installed it, WaMu wasn't geared up for it yet. And I never set it up in Money cause I just manually add my transactions throughout the month. I was seeing if WaMu had downloadable statements yet. I did have several investment accounts setup via Money 2003, and they transferred over to '07 just fine. Thanks! | Hey Dick: I'm working with Deluxe. Have you logged onto MSN Money and checked your accounts? I didn't intentionally put anything up there either. | Essential or Deluxe? FIs you insist on downloading transaction data for? I'm testing M07 Deluxe and haven't put any data on the MSN web site. | Hi you guys: I've been using MS Money since about Money 98. I upgraded until Money 2003, and I've been using M-2003 for about four years. I recently downloaded Money 2007, and noticed that now it seems that I HAVE to put my accounts up on the MSN site. Money started the upload as soon as I opened my Money file. I went in there and manually deleted my accounts, and removed the option. I have no need to access my accounts from the Internet, and (maybe I'm an old fuddy-duddy), I'm not sure if I want my financial life up there anyway. So then I was going to download statements from my bank. But when I went to add the online service it said, "To get online updates from this bank or brokerage, you must change Money's settings to use a Windows Live ID at sign-in and activate the MSN Money My Accounts service." So, since I don't want to put my accounts on the MSN site, I have to make do with a crippled version of Money 2007? 2003 was a very good year.... |
