That's because the payments will presumably include money that was for your personal expenditures. Instead, you will want another way to track the repaid money. You could create a cash account, and use a particular category. You could even use the same EXPENSE category, and just permit it when you get the warning that you are using an expense category for repayment. To zero the cash account because you spend the cash, you could enter transactions for a Misc category to account for the cash being spent without bothering to enter each cup of coffee. Alternatively, to enter the reimbursement into the credit card register to keep it all together, you could enter a split transaction. Enter $100 as LoanRepay, and $-100 as Loan:Business (expect the warning) or some new category you create. The net in the credit card account would be $0.00. But you should be able to get the repayment into the report. - quote - > I want to be sure and keep his charges and payments separate so I don't > end up owing on what he's charged. > I'm sure I'm just missing something. | Thank you very much! WIll this also display credit card payments from my checking account, where he has given me cash that I've depostied, then made the payment for what he owed? I want to be sure and keep his charges and payments separate so I don't end up owing on what he's charged. I'm sure I'm just missing something. I've been reading posts for two days now and keep seeing where people are using separate accounts (i.e. "cash account") which I don't want to do. I only want to have my checking account, credit card account and MAYBE an account for his business. Also, how do I customize the report to show this: - quote - > You may then want to modify the report to include not only the > expenditures from the credit card account, but the repayments into > the checking account. "This" is the Account Transactions report, right?> seem to get this to show ONLY payments from his business. Should I be > using his name in the payee line when I make a "Credit Card Pay : > Visa?" In the report, the Category column displays, but I infer that "Loan:Business" is not the only category to show up, right? Then click Customize and then click the Category tab. The ShowSubcategories box has a checkmark in it, right? Then click ClearAll. All entries in the scroll box get un-checked. Scroll down the list to Loan:Business and check that one. Click Apply. The report behind the CustomizeReport box changes to match your settings. Explore the other tabs such as Date, Rows&Columns etc, and make changes. When it is the way you want it for now, click OK. You may then want to modify the report to include not only the expenditures from the credit card account, but the repayments into the checking account. After each change, click Apply or OK. Then in the left column click AddToMyFavorites, and select a report name such as "CC Business". You can later access your modified report later by clicking Favorites-> FavoriteReports at the top of the Money window. - quote - > Cal Learner-- MVP wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, brigytalex[at]yahoo.com wrote: > > > > I have a friend with a small business that is just getting off the > > > ground. | Thank you for your reply! I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but can't seem to get this to show ONLY payments from his business. Should I be using his name in the payee line when I make a "Credit Card Pay : Visa?" For Category, I would check/tick the ShowSubcategories box, and select only your "Loan:Business" category. Set the date appropriately. Apply. If it looks right, OK. Then AddToMyFavorites and select a report name such as "CC Business". If you enter the reimbursements, you can expand the account and category to include those too. |

| I have a friend with a small business that is just getting off the ground. He does not yet have a credit card. I'm using my card to make purchases and he is reimbursing me immediately with cash which I deposit into my checking account. I want a report that shows credit card payments from my checking, that I make for his company ONLY, so I'm sure he covers all his charges. I already have accounts set up in Money 06 Deluxe for my checking and credit card company. I categorize CC payments as "Credit Card Payment : Visa" and note in the Memo field what it's for. I categorize his charges on my card as "Loan : Business" (only because I don't know what else to call it) then use the memo line to describe the item. I use the same category for his deposits which "0" them out. I've read numerous posts on this site but nothing is exactly what I want. Any suggestions?? Thanks very much in advance! |
