I don't think so, but I am not totally sure. If you are trying to
write your own QIF generator, I suggest File-> Export to give you
examples. That way you get to see what in your register corresponds
to what in the QIF file. Note, however, that when you File-> Import
as a recovered file, no duplicate-matching is done. OFX has a way,
if it is implemented properly, to let Money know if it has seen a
given transaction before. For File-> Import as a statement (or just
clicking on a web link), Money tries to detect and eliminated
duplicates. It does a pretty good, but not always perfect, job.

However if you are trying to produce a file that has info that you
have from another source, OFX is the more sophisticated/complex file
format that you would prefer. What can make QIF or OFX generation
would be a conversion program. See

That is not going to work for OFX interface; the bank would have to
provide the OFX server first of all. It would not be the case that
you could just change Money.

If you have a bank that provides QIF or OFX download via web, you
can tell Money the URL.

Hi Cal

No it doesn't - I import it into excel, add the information and then export
it again. Which leads me to another question - the Classification1 field
doesn't appear to have a QIF equivalent - is that correct?

And also, from an earlier post of mine to which no-one replied, can "other"
financial institutions be imported/added into the International Version of
Money? None of the Banks in Australia are listed....

Cheers

That would be the normal case. That is also the case for when you
have the file come in automatically based on file association.

I am skeptical that your AMEX QIF statement actually has category
information in it. Are you saying it does?

Hi Cal

OK, that worked - but is that how I should import all my AMEX/Bank
transactions? I thought that it would have been via download statement?

But at least it works!

Try copying the file I described below into test.qif and importing
it.

No official documentation for it.

Hi Cal

Just searched MS KB 257219 which says categories are ignored - and I removed
the U but it still wouldn't do it!!

Sorry - still stuffed.....

Also, what is an INV file, can I try that? Is there a format/record layout
description for it anywhere?

Cheers

Looking at it again, I would get rid of the U line. I tried this and
it worked:
=======================================
!Type:CCard
D07/09/2006
T-99.99
PTest
Ltest:library
^
===================================

Hi Cal

Sorry, the file doesn't have the line spacing shown, the cut/paste operation
may have changed the formatting. I also tried removing the spacing from the
L entry but it made no difference....

So, I use the QIF import into an existing credit card and it loads
everything EXCEPT the L entries. The values in L already exist, they are
not new categories. It is my understanding that this action should be
aceptable as part of a "bulk import" from credit card companies, such as
AMEX.

Cheers

The file is normally single spaced.
The L line would normally not have those spaces.
You would import as a new or recovered account-- not as a statement.

Default Importing a QIF file - category is ignored

Trying to do a bulk import into MS Money, but although it successfully
imports the data, it ignores the category information. QIF format is:

!Type:CCard

D29/07/2006

U-99.99

T-99.99

PTest

Ltest : library

^

Any thoughts?
