Wrong terminology, I meant flash drive ;-) I should probably also back
up periodically to a cd-rw.

Tried the process, works like a charm! Much easier than doing each
entry separately. Thanks again.

I would not trust my file to a single Zip disk. I am not sure about
a rotation of such disks. I suggest you also have a copy on a USB
flash drive (more reliable), and perhaps burn a copy to CDR your
safe deposit box.

Cal-Thanks for the reply, I'll give it a shot. The program always backs
up to a zip drive on closing, so hopefully if there's a fatal error
(noooo!) I can recover.

Hopefully.

Still seems like at the least you should be able to pull up a list of
every payee ever entered & specify category & other info. Or is that
too obvious? Seems like they put enough effort into figuring out how to
work ADS etc into the thing...

I would make an extra copy of your file in case you do not like the
result. Then go to Tools-> FindAndReplace and choose the Advanced
Search. After you do the Find portion, it will present a Replace
portion. There you can make changes to the Payee or Category, etc
for selected transactions.

Default Assigning a category to a payee across a number of transactions

I recently dl'd 700 some credit card transactions into Money '04. The
majority of these transactions can be accounted for by a handful of
payees, grocers, gas stations, utilities, etc. Rather than, say, go
into each transaction to QFC groceries & adding the category "food :
groceries", I would like to do set all transactions with the payee QFC
to that category at once. I've looked through the help file (no help)
as well as the site http://money.mvps.org & I cannot find a way to do
this. I see also that you can view/edit a list of payees, as well as a
list of categories, but there does not appear to be a way to view a list
of payees, setting each one to a certain category, which would then
appear in each instance of that payee in the register. This seems like
a real no-brainer; if there's no way to do this, there sure should be!

TIA
