Let me try to simplify the responses: the Money version (Help|About version)
on the new, restoring, machine needs to be equal to or greater than the
Money version on the machine that made the backup.

When you say you backed it up, I assume that you used the Money backup.
Instead of that just copy the file on the old machine and place it on the
new machine and everything should work fine.

Assuming the new computer has Money 2005 installed on it, open the
sample.mny file in your install folder, or let Money 2005 create a
new Money file, clicking Decline in the process. It will do an
update. Close Money. Then open Money and check that Help-> About...
says you then have version 14.0.*.1105.

Then you should be able to open or restore your existing files.

Default Passport vs. Password

I have used money since 2002.

I recently purchased a new computer so I backed my Money file up and
transferred it to the new machine.

When i try to open the file it asks for a password.

I have no idea what its talking about!

I always used my Passport to sign in, but the password for my passport
doesn't work.

What do I do?
