Copying and pasting my responses to a few other threads:

"I'm just copying and pasting my earlier reply, so you don't miss it:

"I ended up getting escalated to level 2 tech support, who confirmed the
issue is with the Money Central website and how it gets and syncs
transactions. She escalated the issue to the external parties they use to
get info, and my accounts FINALLY starting syncing (and downloading
transactions!) yesterday. This morning, it took several tries, but it
finally synced and downloaded the 3 latest transactions.

Call Micro$oft if you're still having an issue, and don't let them tell you
it's your firewall/antivirus/pc/bank."

I forgot to add, the Microsoft level 2 tech support called me yesterday and
said she did speak to the "external parties" they use, who confirmed they had
seen the issue and they (the 3rd-parties) had made the "neccesary changes" to
fix the issue."

Hans,

Well I just tried this method that you described and it WORKED!!!! And
I've tried everything. The problem was that I couldn't get the MSN
Synchronization to sync when I updated. AND I couldn't re-set up a
Sears Credit Card Accoumt that I had disabled & tried to re-setup.All
my other accounts update correctly.

So I went to MSN Money Central and added the Sears account. That went
ok. Then I closed MSN Central, opened up MS Money and clicked on Update
now. MSN SYNC WORKED! I then had TWO Sears accounts, but I merged
them. Then I clicked on Update now again and IT STILL WORKED! Now if it
still works tomorrow I'll REALLY be surprised.

Default *** UPDATE! Please read ***

Last night, I got another email from Microsoft, this time from a different
rep than the first time, named Robert. In a nutshell, here's what he said:

"There is one thing i want you to try for me, go to money central.com and
sign in like you would in money , then go to my money and then to banking and
then my accounts, at the botton of the page click on add and try adding in
again the accounts that won't update and see if they will update in mon ey
central. If they do just open money and let the accounts sync with money."
(I copied that directly, so yes, all the spelling is what he sent, including
the non-use of caps.)

So, I did as he asked. Silly me, though, I didn't notice that on the MSN
Money website, the Washington Mutual Bank account was *already* listed, so I
added it again. It failed to update (no surprise!) either of them when I
tried to do an update from the MSN Money website. I went back to Money on my
PC, and suddenly saw TWO Washington Mutual Bank accounts listed, one with a
-1 after the name. I deleted the one I had just created on the MSN Money
website, and in Money on my PC, it deleted the original account I had created
a few days ago! The only one left was the "new" one with the -1 after it.

So, back to MSN Money, deleted the Washington Mutual account again, signed
out of the site, went back to Money on my PC, and deleted the account in
there, too. I then created the account in Money again, and then tried to
synch - and lo and behold, it worked! The balance is shown correctly now.

HOWEVER, this account is exhibiting the *exact* same (other) problem I have,
in that Money does not download any transactions for me to review and/or
match with existing transactions in Money on my PC.

Not sure if that will help anyone or not. Perhaps the accounts need to be
deleted off the MSN Money site, then re-synched from Money on the PC?

Default Another (un)funny update to the situation

Twice now I've tried to jump on the online chat and complain: once Sunday,
and today. Sunday around 10am; the screen says to not close the window, my
chat session will open shortly in it. I left about an hour later to go catch
a movie. When I came back - around 2:30pm - the same message was on the
screen! I finally closed the window and went about my business.

When I got into the office this morning, I decided to try it again. That's
right, I started yet another chat session - with a copy of the text from my
previous one - at 8:30am today. It's now 4pm, and guess what? The screen
STILL says

"Do not close this window.

Your chat session will start in this window shortly."

Apparently, "shortly" is a subjective term that Microsoft uses.

Seriously, it's too bad there's no way to put a sticky at the top of these
newsgroup messages about this issue, because I've seen several other people
who've complained about the same thing.

I'm right there with ya Hans. I'm pretty sure these problems have been going
on for way more than a month, as I have a number of statements here I still
haven't reconciled because I can't get any updates to download from my bank.
Pretty bad of a software company to not use backout proceedures when an
update fails. I really don't have a lot of faith in this product anymore.
Even when I do get a succesful update (which is pretty much never lately
since this wacky update), I don't trust the data it's getting.

Do you work for MS Money Support...? Sounds like something they'd say to get
you off the phone

Recreating a new file is time-consuming and not necessary -- what you're
running into are the new improvements that resulted after weeks of downtime
while updates were put in place.

You're right, it is ridiculous. I prefer the Money software over Quicken
though, and really do like the concept of one-stop-syncing, just wish it
worked. I for one will give the 07 version a try when it comes out, but if the
sync is still an issue, and Billpay not re-integrated, then I guess I'll have
to give Quicken another look.

Default Re: Online updates - ** STILL ** not working! !@#$%^&*()!

Thanks Neil. I took your advice and did this, and Money now says "These
banks and brokerages do not provide automatic online updates" and lists
Washington Mutual Bank, then says "Services - File Imports" next to it -
which is totally NOT true! In my original Money file, ONCE it finally got me
to the nank and asked me to select the type of account, so I chose checking,
and then it gave me the familiar "online updates are not not available at
this, please try again later" error after I clicked next.

Then, I figured, let me try it again - and it wants to synch my info from
the MSN Money website, which I don't want. So I created another totally new
file and used a Hotmail address that I use for spam, and got the exact same
error I've been getting: "Your account details couldn't be updated from your
bank..."

So, no difference, other than Money giving me the wrong info the first time.

I also filed a support case with Microsoft, and got the standard answer of
"this is a known issue we're experiencing..." blah blah blah.

I can fully appreciate your frustration with Money. While I am having
different problems I also do not get any satisfaction from Microsoft.

That being said, I suggest that you create a totally new file (not new
account) and then add this new account from Washington Mutual and see if you
have the same problem.

Default Online updates - ** STILL ** not working! !@#$%^&*()!

Two problems:

1. I have an existing account, which worked previously with online updates
- it downloaded all the transactions, allowed me to match them with ones in
my register, etc. Now when I do online updates, it *finally* for the last
week or so SAYS "completed successfully", but all it updates is the final
balance, and does NOT download any of the transactions, nor mark them as such
(previously it did.) Prior to the website changes Micro$oft made, it
downloaded the transactions so I could match them, as well as downloading any
transactions that I forgot to put in the register.

2. I just created a NEW account (opened it today at the bank), and it will
not let me complete the process in MS Money. I know the account is supported
(Washington Mutual Bank) because it's listed. I'm getting the same generic
error message I got when online updates weren't working at all a few weeks
ago.

This is getting RIDICULOUS! This problem has been going on for over a month
now! Yes, I've checked the MSN Network Status page, and it's still useless.

I'm goign to say this in all caps, so maybe someone at Microsoft can get the
point:

IF YOU MADE CHANGES THAT BROKE THE APPLICATION - WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT
HAPPENED - PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS UNTIL YOU FIGURE OUT WHY THE ISSUE IS
HAPPENING!!!!!

I'm literally disgusted with Microsoft Money at this point. This has gone
on for far too long.

Also, unrelated question: the Money website shows 2006 as the latest
version...when I go to the support options, then choose "my product is not
listed", Money 2007 is listed as an option! Is that a new version coming
out? If so, based on all the problems I've had (this will be my 3rd support
request on these issues in a month) I think Micro$oft should send me the
Small Business 2007 version!
