If your have Payees such as "Tenth Bank $12.34 05/05/05", change at
least one of these to "Tenth Bank". That way there will be a payee
that matches except for numbers and punctuation.

Also, you can change the payee for such transactions with a
Tools-> FindAndReplace simple search, and change them all to the
same payee. While the payees that you changed will not now show a
date for LastPaid in Banking-> AccountTools-> Categories&Payees, it
still showed up in the drop-down Payee list when I tried it.
Eventually it should go off of the list thru disuse.

I really want to use MS Money because it allows for electronic downloads
from my bank. Quicken does not at this time. My issue is that I have a
regster full of items that look like duplicate entries.

Example:

The downloaded transactions apear like below.

VISA CHECK CARD PURCHASE-TERM#

or

C-PAY BILL PAYMENT-TERM# C-PAY C

When they should read like below.

VISA CHECK CARD PURCHASE-TERM# 07104708 BOJANGLES FAMOUS CHICKEGARNER

or

C-PAY BILL PAYMENT-TERM# C-PAY C-PAY DIRECTV CHANTILLY VA

As you can see the prefix of "VISA CHECK CARD PURCHASE-TERM#" is totally
redundant and not needed. In actuallity if I use the Payeerules manager to
automatically rename one of the tranactions it renames them all because they
are all read as"VISA CHECK CARD PURCHASE-TERM#".

I thought that from reading through the posts on this newsgroup and through
the basic instructions provided with the Money 2006 trial that I could use
the "excluded Payee Names" funtion to have Money ignore the prefix of "VISA
CHECK CARD PURCHASE-TERM#" and enter a transaction that only showed "07104708
BOJANGLES FAMOUS CHICKEGARNER" which is the actual place of the transaction.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
