Hi Cal,
I decided to keep track of my investments in Excel, delted all of them and
now the performance is ok.
I will try also your advice with Money V 14 and give you the feed back
afterwards.
Thanks to all of you.

Yes. Uninstall Money 2006. Reinstall Money 2005.

Either open the sample.mny file in your install folder, or let
Money 2005 create a new Money file, clicking Decline in the
process. It will do an update. Close Money. Then open Money and
check that Help-> About... says you then have version 14.0.*.1105.

Then you should be able to open your *.m14 file.

Hi Cal,
already tried all that. The simple budget report was just an example - all
reports are problematic.
Is there a possibility to go back to Money 2005?

Agreed, it's terrible. But you're not alone in seeing performance "issues"
with M06.

Try File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair

If not fixed, try File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair level 2.

Hi Bob,
it's version 15.0.120.513
This is terrible performance, it takes about three, yes three, minutes to
load a simple budget report.

Thank you Cal
however, I cannot use Money online anyway - sitting in good old Europe - and
backup only to the disc. Maybe you have some other good idea, what I could
try.
Archiving does not help, I agree.

That's not big for Money files. If you want to limit the speed of
growth in your Money files, retrieve quotes for fewer securities.

Use USB flash drives instead of floppies for backups.

Resist any thought that archiving might make your file significantly
smaller or faster.
