| Hi all, I have been tracking CD's in money for a while. What I had been doing was to buy a $10,000 CD in "investment A" from my Checking account. When I received interest I would go under cash transactions and record them in category CD Interest. When the CD expired I redeemed the CD for the principal + interest. But this leaves my Account value to a value equal to the interest amount. I read through here and found that instead of using the cash transactions I should do "reinvest interest" for interest transactions. I changed all the amounts to reflect the change. Now when I go to redeem the CD with the following information: Investment: Investment A Activity: Redeem CD/Bond Transfer to: Checking 1 Value: 10000 Interest: 500 Total: 10500 I get this error. "Adding this Sell, Remove, or Redeem Shares activity will cause the balance of 'Investment A' held in this investment account to become negative at some point. Please cancel or revise the transaction." What am I doing wrong here? Or is it money that is causing the problem? Please guide me as to what can I do to get this fixed. Thank you. |
