| Well, that turned out to be an easy fix. I copied the CD to my hard drive, marked fontinst as "run as adminstrator" and "xp compatibility" via properties, and ran setup as adminstrator, and Money installed without an error. Vista's help documentation said that checking the "run as administrator" checkbox via properties only works for files on the HD. Windows didn't complain when I tried to alter the settings for the files on the CD, but my guess is that they did not apply when running from the CD. Problem solved and hopefully this will help anyone else who encounters the same error. | Hello, I recently wiped my hard drive and installed vista beta 2, and now I'm trying to install Money 2005 from the original CD. During installation, I get about 90% done, and then "fontinst" crashes, and windows closes the money installer. I can launch money, but right away it says it's missing components and then shuts down. I've tried telling windows to run fontinst and money's setup program as administrator, and i've also told it to run in XP compatibility mode, but it doesn't help. It seems that others have successfully installed Money 2005 in Vista (or was it already installed and they just upgraded to Vista?) so I'm hoping someone's had this problem before and knows how to fix it. Thanks in advance, Jeff |
