| I discovered a workaround to the issue that might be worthwhile for others who want to change the frequency of their loan payments without creating a new loan in Money 2006: The issue: How to change the frequency of payment on an existing loan. 1. Click on Bills (assuming you have a bill payment schedule set up for this item) 2. Select the account where the frequency of the payment is to be modified. 3. Click "edit" 4. Click "edit bill series" 5. Change "frequency" 6. Change "amount" 7. Click OK 8. A dialogue box will appear stating the values do not match 9. Click OK to bring up the "Future Loan Payment" dialogue box 10. There will be an "unassigned" total at the bottom. Enter the same account as you are paying in a new line item, and enter the amount "unassigned" as a negative (in parentheses). This will make your "unassiged" "zero" 11. Click OK I don't know that this method will enable tracking a perfect amortization table. But it will allow tracking payments made every other week versus the previous once a monthl payments. | My bank does not charge for this service - they do it inhouse - a half payment every two weeks. But Money 2006 apparently does not have the "refinance" button that earlier versions have. This is not a refi, but the Money Help advises that use of the older Refinance button was the work-around for this change. I can't believe they eliminated this option in the "new improved" version of Money. Did you refinance, or are you going thru one of those services whichpays your existing mortgage for you while taking a service charge for doing so? If the later, is it too late to reconsider? - quote - > I > can see how that is changed in Pay Bills, but when I go through those > screens, there are caluclated fields that don't allow that change. | I want to change my mortgage payments from monthly to every other week. I can see how that is changed in Pay Bills, but when I go through those screens, there are caluclated fields that don't allow that change. I understand why because my amortization schedule would be changed. So I went to the Mortgage Account and went to the change terms screens. But there was no option for changing the date or frequency of mortgage payment. Any suggestion? I hope I'm not required to start a new mortgage account to make this change. |
