Default Re: Reconciled Accounts not Correct

It fails to match the unreconciled transaction from the same or previous day,
whether or not I manually entered them, or if they were setup as an "Epay"
transaction. It usually matches a future billing instance from my bills
list, and when I attempt to "unmatch" the transaction, I'm not shown ANY past
dated transactions from which to match, reconciled or not. I guess I'm
willing to tinker with a brand new file (what a pain, might as well switch
back to 2004 or Quicken in that case). I've tried repairing my Money file
with zero luck.

Are those past transactions Reconciled? If so, you might want to
postpone making them Reconciled until after you have downloaded the
matching transactions.

Ok, that wasn't it. I was hoping it was something as simply as that number
of days set to such a small number that Money would not try to match with an
older transaction.

So, this likely means a more complicated issue (possibly even som minor data
corruption)
It may be due to some Payee aliasing, check the Payee Rules Manager to see
if there is some incorrect aliasing.

It might be due to a corrupted bill instance. In a copy of the file (no need
to mangle your existing file any more), try removing all of the bills and
see if after recreating them, matching will work better.

Or, it may simply be "by design" in the case of matching transactions with
similar dollar amounts.
If the download from your bank does not help Money (i.e. by providing a
proper payee name or a check number) then Money may fail to give the proper
match.
If Money is not allowing you to "change" the transaction to the proper one
(i.e. the correct one is not listed), then that "correct" transction may
either already have a "confirmed" match or it may be corrupted. You could
try deleteing it (again in a copy of your file) and then re-enter it
manually and then see if Money will allow you to match with it.

That is set to 60 days. Other settings on that screen are:

Add description...checked
Automatically accept...not checked
Overwrite....checked
Replace downloaded...checked
Automatically mark...not checked
Show standardized...checked
Enter electronic payments...checked

It doesn't happen to be the number of days set in the "Match transactions
within an XX day range" setting in Tools - Settings - Online Services?

Default Re: Reconciled Accounts not Correct

My issue in 2006, whether the transaction is already in the register or still
in the bills list, most transactions either match incorrectly or match to the
future instance of the correct bill (not the one already in the register).
It doesn't allow me to match (after clicking change) to ANY transaction that
has a date in the past.

I tried an online chat session with Microsoft support, and their response
was that this was how the application was designed. I've been using Money
for over 10 years and online capability since it was first available, and
this always worked properly before. I recently upgraded from 2004 to 2006.

This issue, if unresolved, will cause me to SWITCH TO QUICKEN in a
heartbeat. This BUG has more than doubled the amount of time it takes me to
process my downloaded transactions!

Of all the discussions on the net that I've found on this topic, not once
have I seen a meaningful response from Microsoft, only angst and frustration
on the part of users.

I'm assuming you're talking about downloaded transactions. How about
revising both to post automatically a day or two in advance. Then, when the
transactions download, click the change button and associate it with the
correct transaction. You may have to do that every time, but it averts the
bill schedule issue. That has a bad effect on budgets, I think.

Default Reconciled Accounts not Correct

MS Money 2006 Deluxe.
Windows XP SP2

I have a bill for NML for $49.00 recurring every month.
I also have a cingular bill for $50 recurring every month.

Nearly every month Money thinks I am reconciling my NML account for my
Cingular payment. I update it but it keeps removing my future bill for NML.
Is there any way to keep it from guessing my Cingular bill is my NML bill? I
always have to go back and change the NML bill to the current month.

Any ideas on where I can fix this or what is happening?
