| Well, it doesn't prove anything, but I went ahead, started Money, and added the second account. Then I updated it with no problem. Then I left Money, reentered and only updated the first account. It worked properly. I left again and only updated the second account - it worked properly. So the problem is reduced to the fact that multiple accounts cannot be updated together at Vanguard or Vanguard just fixed this problem and this shows nothing. -- John "JohnA" <John[at]TheAtas.org-spamguard> wrote in message news:uAq5HU5oGHA.4208[at]TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... - quote - > Hi Jeff, > Thanks for the information! | Hi Jeff, Thanks for the information! I wonder if it's something stupid like once you connect to Vanguard, Vanguard somehow remembers that there's an existing session for the first account and has the second session inherit the first session's login which would make the second login useless. If my theory is correct, then downloading account 1, leaving Money, coming back in and downloading account 2 might work... but I haven't tried it. | I have (but no not use as my primary financial software) Quicken 2006. The same problem is showing up there as well which clearly indicates that the problem is Vanguard. My new theory is that something has changed in the OFX data format from Vanguard that is confusing these programs with respect to accounts. Downloading from just one of your logins works fine. Trying to use two logins creates the confusion in both programs now. | Hi Cal, Each login shows only one account in the preferred access view - the one that is associated with the login. As expected, it is unchangeable. I just don't see how if Money is logging in with login A, it would receive any information on account B unless it was really logging in with login B. I tried the following scenario: 1) Removed both accounts from online services 2) Added the first account - worked just fine. 3) I assigned the second account to a new financial institution. 4) When adding online services to the second account, I said that this was different than the first institution and typed the appropriate login information. 5) Money than proceeded to download the first account - something that seems impossible with the login credentials I gave it. 6) After that it's downhill, the wrong account sits in that financial institution. I'm just don't see how this can be a Vanguard problem. BTW, flipping the accounts around and adding the second one first works as you expect - the second account that was added first works properly, the first account that is added in second is confused. -- John "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:g350b2p07if6rq0t4bt98cdqp2g6mn2d6u[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, JohnA wrote: > > I don't see how it can be a problem with Vanguard. | It's not the preferred view causing the problem. Something has gone wrong (only recently) that causes Money to be unable to keep separate two different login accounts with Vanguard. I don't know if it's Vanguard or Money, but something changed recently and it's obviously affecting everyone that has multiple login accounts at Vanguard. The only workaround I've found so far is to just do an OFX update on my main account and for my wife's separate IRAs, I download manually from the Vanguard website. Although I earlier stated that I thought it might be a problem with Vanguard, I agree with the previous poster that this is unlikely since it would be a corruption of private data across logins and that seems less likely than a problem with Money's ability to read data. I tried an experiment today and got very strange results. I disabled online updates for both of my Vanguard logins. I then enabled my wife's accounts and all worked fine. I then tried to enable my accounts and at the point where Money gives you the option to match accounts it only displayed my wife's accounts (not mine). I then disabled her accounts and tried to enable my accounts. Again, I was only given the option to match to her accounts (even though I was logging in through Money using my login). I ended up having to restore a backup in order to get back to being able to update my accounts (and not my wife's). | I don't see how it can be a problem with Vanguard. I have two separate accounts with different SSNs and different login credentials. Yet Money just recently started to confuse them. If Vanguard could not keep two distinct accounts straight with different login credentials, they might as well shutdown their online site. <HMacQuarrie[at]gmail.com> wrote in message news:1151976450.177047.180640[at]v61g2000cwv.googlegroups.com... - quote - > This is likely a problem with Vanguard. | This is likely a problem with Vanguard. I have accessed two separate Vanguard accounts for many years through all recent versions of Money with no problem. Until the past couple of weeks. The only workaround for now is to only access one of the two accounts via ofx direct download and access the second account by downloading a qif from the Vanguard website. The Vanguard website indicates that they are transitioning to a new secure login procedure, so I wonder if the problem may be associated with that transition. I have two different accounts (with different logins) that I have long been able to update by having a Vanguard Group and a Vanguard Group2 that downloaded my accounts and my wife's accounts separately. In the last few days I've had problems with one account trying to download the other accounts or updates not going through. Curious if anyone else is having similar or related problems. Jeff |
