| Just ranting I guess -- spent a lot of time over the past month trying to get it to work right. I see your point though, guess it's more wishful thinking than anything. | Oh, you just jinxed yourself I went through all that myself, and then itworked, then it didn't, then some of them did, then some didn't, others did. Of all the products Microsoft offers, you'd think the one that manages your personal finances would be > the< product they thoroughly test and ensure it works perfectly prior to release. This version has been out a year or so, and basic functionality is broken. Sometimes downloading statements from the financial web site, other times through Money06/MSN Money, but not being sure when to do which, is confusing to say the least. Spending hours reconfiguring accounts in hopes of the elusive 'all-in-one sync' is not good. | This sounds like it may be similar to the issue I was having. Are you getting the error "sync failed <date> <time> ... is temporarily unavailable" (something like that)? If so after going round and round with MS they had me disable online access under Manage Online Services. Click the Stop Using Online Services. I wound up doing this for all 4 of my accounts. Then did a synch just to MSN and that was successful. I then re-configured each account by using the Setup Online Services link next to each bank and it started working. | I did a long online chat with support and they told me they were confident the problem was related to the current known issue. I am very disappointed as the outage has been DAYS and the Network Status says "intermittent". I don't consider approx 3 successful attempts from 4 days of trying 5 hours a dayan "intermittent" problem. ![]() "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Belle wrote: > > I looked further into OFX and the MS knowledge base Article ID : 246930 > > says M&I Data services (part of M&I corp, my bank corp) is (was?) If those web changes change, there will need for modifications to be made by programmers. In adjusting the algorithms, I would think that cooperation from the bank would be helpful but not necessary. I suggest that you contact Microsoft and let them know your access to that bank worked but stopped working-- perhaps at the same time. Perhaps the bank is trying to make it work better. So the problem might be something else. Calling Microsoft will still potentially useful. Please tell us what fixed it when you call. |

| Cal, I looked further into OFX and the MS knowledge base Article ID : 246930 says M&I Data services (part of M&I corp, my bank corp) is (was?) VERY involved with MSN's Money software. IF THEY can't work with the software themselves? ..... Maybe it is something I did? But M&I just revamped their online banking within the last month also... | Cal, Thanks for your reply. I installed Money 2006 Deluxe last week and DID get my bank (M&I) to add accounts and update automatically from inside Money a few times. It gave me trouble and I deleted the "Online banking account" but can not get it to set up again properly. Sometimes I get pretty darn far (It pulls up the account names & numbers from the bank) which makes me think it is a glitch related to the MSN outage? Looking at http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx> either. How can I tell if it uses the OFX you refer to? My bank is Marshall > & Ilsly Bank Online Banking. says "This service is provided by a third party provider, not your financial institution. It is only available if you have Microsoft Money 2005 or later. You will need to use Microsoft .NET Passport in order to access your account information." This means that they do not provide an OFX server to Money. That won't be an option for that bank. If you were looking for a different bank, you could check the candidates using that link. So to set up to go thru that third party, you will need a Passport on your file. Did you set this up in the past, and it stopped working for you? |
