| I use Wells Fargo and the direct statements with both MS Money 2006 and Quicken 2006. It works very well in both software applications, of course, but Wells Fargo charges me $3.00 / month for the service. It's extremely unreliable, in my one month of experience. I'm considering Wells Fargo now, because I am pretty sure they have direct statements for Money. MSN subscription is not a requirement for synching accounts. All you need> is > unavailable. This service is the only reason I'm an MSN subscriber. is a Windows Live ID (aka Hotmail address, Passport, etc.). If that's the ONLY reason you subscribe, consider cancellation. A caveat is that you may not be able to use the same address later. Confirm with customer support. If false, no problem; if true, remove the current passport from your Money file, create a new Windows ID, then associate that new ID with your existing Money file. Prove this to yourself by going to http://moneycentral.msn.com/banking/...ts/welcome.asp, click Sign In, then Sign Up in the 'New to MSN?' box. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| New update: 6/7/2006 Status: ETA: Maintenance will complete later tonight or tomorrow. I'd been pulling my hair out trying to get my new Washington Mutual accounts setup in Money. This is unacceptable to me as well. | If you walk through the MS Money pages on the main MSFT.com site, you can get into support with three options, phone, IM or email. That said, I tried that three times yesterday and taking either the email or IM options would make the IE window lock up. That VERY well may be my machine as it has been a little unstable lately, but the options are there possibly. | I cant comment on if most use synch or not, but I certainly do and it is 80+% of the reason WHY I use the product. From my experience in large datacenter apps and the like, I am *VERY* surprised that this functionality has been down for so long. I also think that there has to be a better way of this working. I mean the synch with my other institutions still work, just my banks dont. Downright silly that only a portion of the functionality is so dependant on this mass server functionality. The actual synch is MSN Money for me is useless as it doesnt show pending transactions, so the amount is "off" from the adjusted which I need. Also frustrated that there isnt a Money mobile client for WM 5.0, but that is a whole other rant. "Ben" wrote: - quote - > It is true -- I've been using Money without sync for years. | I'm calling Billing and requesting a credit for each day that the service is unavailable. This service is the only reason I'm an MSN subscriber. If enough subscribers do likewise, it just might get someone's attention. BTW, does anybody have a path that goes directly to Money Support? All the support people reachable via the published links are all Explorer-oriented and want me to "reload Explorer". I have a website URL MSN provided to me in 2004, but it is "not found" today. | I dont think its unfair what if they rushed the sync maintance had it back up and people started loosing bill payments? or if information was not being sent down? then itll be unfair they didnt fix it right? i suggest everone just waits if its rushed i would hate to see the outcome "STinGA" <STinGA[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news AB71DDB-37AF-4D84-BF4D-06D7E00EC9A8[at]microsoft.com...- quote - > After the first day (6/2/2006) that synchronization between Microsoft > Money > and MSN Money didn't work because their servers are down for maintenance I > didn't get too concerned when they were not back up on 6/3/2006, but now > it > is 6/5/2006 and the network status message at > http://moneycentral.msn.com/common/networkstatus.asp still has the same > information posted. | It is true -- I've been using Money without sync for years. Decided to dive in and begin by adding accounts to MSN Money and syncing the data to a new Money06 data file. Decided it was nice to sync most (not all) of my accounts just by opening Money06 and switched over -- nice for a week (really miss the fully integrated bill-pay), then the sync stopped working. If I'd been using this method for a year or so, this would be a huge inconvenience by now... IMHO -- plans for something this integral to the product should have been for no longer than a day. | I hate to differ with you Cal, as I know that you have posted a lot of good and helpful information to many posts, but one of the reasons, if not the main reason, that most people use Money (or Quicken) is so that they don't have to manually log on to multiple financial institutions to track their account activity and balances for banking accounts, credit card accounts and investment accounts. Without synchronization for accounts that do not communicate "direct" with Money it leaves no alternative but to manually log on to those accounts and download transactions and balances. Also, one of the hypes of Microsoft Money is that you can access your accounts on the web through Money Central which is dependent on synchronization. So, the statement that Money is pretty useless without synchronation is not untrue. And, contrary to your statement, I think that most people do use synchronization, or at the least, most people would use it if it worked. ![]() Cal Learner-- MVP wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Bluesky4x4 wrote: > > Money is pretty useless without this functionality. | I agree with your comment on useless without this functionality. Be careful with your alternatives. Excel is a Microsoft product too ![]() Paper might be the safest way to go, and at this point, it would be faster than waiting on Microsoft to get their act together with their server maintenance! | I think that it's more likely to be neglect than incompetence. Anything having to do with MS Money is pretty far down on Microsoft's list of priorities. Do the higher-ups at Microsoft even care about the Money team, or are they just sitting there in their cubes whittiling the days away working on the next minor incremental upgrade for next year? | Well, there is finally an update on the Microsoft Network Status web page.
