I don't know what happens in that case, but I suspect you are right.

Thanks, Cal. I guess I would *have* to set my regional settings for
Canada -- presently set for UK.

Yes. Money 2006 standard is the same as Money 2006 Canadian version.
It uses your regional settings to determine if it runs in Canadian
or US versions.

That should be available at stores in Canada. Here is one instance:

I am using M2000 Canadian edition. I would really like to upgrade to Money
2006, but seem to recall reading on this group that a .mny file written by a
Canadian version is incompatible with other versions. I also seem to recall
reading that a Canadian version of Money is no longer marketed. Is there
*any* version of M2006 that would work with my Canadian .mny file?

TIA

Default hmmmm

What is confusing me is how I could have a different version preloaded on my
PC compared to the disks supplied with the PC..... I couldn't tell you if I
had an International or US version previously loaded - it was just the
version I had and it worked......

If I do have a different version, is there any hope for me. Any suggestions
asd to my next step??

That message definitely means that you are trying to open your .mny file
with a program that "belongs" to a different locale than the program that
wrote the .mny file.

For example - file written by US version and trying to open with
International version (or vice-versa). Have a look in Help in the currently
installed version for cheque. If it is spelt correctly you have the
International version loaded. If it is spelt check you have the US version
installed.

I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for.

Default RE: Error Message - Incompatible Version"

Oops - forgot to mention that I live down here in New Zealand. My regional
settings in Windows are set as New Zealand, and seem to be flowing through to
Money OK. I tried to repair the files but that didn't seem to make a
difference..

Default Error Message - Incompatible Version"

I have just rebuild my Windows XP (SP2) computer and (as part of it) reloaded
MS Money 2004 Std Edition off the disks that came with the computer (Compaq
Presario 2500 notebook).

Under the about screen it shows as Microsoft Money OEM Edition, version 12.0

I backed up all my files before I did it, and have copied them back onto my
computer. When I go to open the files now, I get the dreaded "incompatible
versions" message.

As far as I am aware I am still using the same version as was preloaded on
the computer. It is a full version, not trial. I have looked through the
files on this group and cannot find anything that looks the same as my
problem (most of them refer to upgrades..)

Any assistance, ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

Regards, Alan
