The Portfolio Manager within Money 2006 is how you will view yourinvestments locally. The web interface you've seen pictures of won't contain your portfolio data unless you use a Passport and tell Money you want to sync with MSN. Regards, JB |

| It sounds like I wasn't clear on my intentions. I will delete Money 2003 and only use Money 2006. But I want to do stocks, etc with it and do not want all that info on the NET. With 2003 I use it that way.....manually enter all my Stock trades, etc and only use the internet to automatically update the closing prices each day. I want to continue doing that, but being sure all data is stored locally and that I am only getting closing values from the internet. Then I can see my portofolio on my laptop while I'm disconnected from the internet and make reports, etc. "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, RayS wrote: > > Thanks for your quick reply. Yes.> seen of the investment interface shows the MSN WEB page. For what you are > suggesting to work, Money would have to also have it's own internal interface > for the financial investments. Is that correct? You can have both 2003 and 2006 on your computer at the same time, installed into different folders. You can have them open, one at a time. The only caveats I can think of are the last-installed is set up with the file associations, so when you download an OFX or QIF, the last installed gets fed the file. To feed the file to both, save the file to disk, and do File-> Import to both. Just clicking a link sends the file to the last-installed. You could manually adjust the associations, or could reinstall 2003 to reset the associations. Also, do not have the same Passport on both files. Copy your Money 2003 file to another filename such as Mon06.mny. If there is a Passport on the file, I would open the copy with Money 2003 and remove the passport before converting. There is probably no need to take that step, but I would rather be over-cautious. - quote - > Thanks again for your help. | Thanks for your quick reply. A related question is that all pictures I have seen of the investment interface shows the MSN WEB page. For what you are suggesting to work, Money would have to also have it's own internal interface for the financial investments. Is that correct? Thanks again for your help. Sorry to be so picky but this is important to me. | I currently track my investments with Money 2003 and I was considering upgrading to Money Premium 2006. However, after reading the reviews it appears a portofolio is no longer stored on your personal computer but rather on Microsoft severs out on the WEB. Is this correct? Can I buy Money 2006 and configure it to store my investment data only on my own computer? I'm sure Microsoft tries to keep this secure but it would seem to be an interesting target for the hackers. Thus I'd rather trust my own security and the fact that my computer doesn't have a big target painted on it to attract hackers beyond the normal amount. Thanks |
