How do I turn > aliasing completely off? Go to Banking-> AccountTools-> Categories&Payees-> Payees-> PreferredPayeeNames which shows how downloaded names are translated into Payees. Record the Payee Name Variation(s) shown for FED DEBIT. Delete the entries like FED DEBIT. Then click on GoToPayeeRulesManager. Excluded Payee Names identifies words and phrases that should be ignored from the payee field (e.g., check, deposit). Add FED DEBIT and any other things you saw in the PreferredPayeeNames that would be appropriate. While you are at it, it is usually a good idea to select Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServices-> ReplacePayeeNames.... - quote - > It's a great idea, but it was horribly implemented.
You may be able to see the problem at PreferredPayeeNames, and take> This isn't the only problem with aliasing I have, just the most frequent. > It aliased a Costco debit card purchase to Cingular, I assume because the > amount was close to the reoccuring Cingular bill, or they both start with a > C, or some other such asinine logic. If the check already exists in the register and the check numbers match, Money should match to the existing transaction number and not revise the payee description. Check the status of Tools> Settings> Online Service Settings> Replace downloaded payee names... If excluding 'FED DEBIT' does not solve the problem, toggle the setting of the item above. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| To clarify, it is aliasing ALL my checks to the name on ONE payee. "Tim" wrote: - quote - > My checks are downloaded and come across with a payee of FED DEBIT. | My checks are downloaded and come across with a payee of FED DEBIT. For some reason, Money 2006 insists on aliasing it to the name of one of my payees, even though I've removed the alias for the 5th time just now. How do I turn aliasing completely off? It's a great idea, but it was horribly implemented. This isn't the only problem with aliasing I have, just the most frequent. It aliased a Costco debit card purchase to Cingular, I assume because the amount was close to the reoccuring Cingular bill, or they both start with a C, or some other such asinine logic. I've used nearly every version of Money since 2001, I think, and they just seem to get more and more troublesome. |
