Don't use bank downloads. Reconcile with stock and investment data weekly. I use the budget process but don't get too hung up on its accuracy. I use the Lifetime planner as a retiree and it works but you do have to improvise sometimes. I don't expect this kind of product to be and end all for financial planning, but it does do a fair job. I follow Net Worth and cash flow regularly. Don't waste too much time trying to "make" Money agree with everything. It just won't happen! Good luck. Steve |

Steve As someone else who has had his share of frustrations with Money 2002 let me ask this: - Is there a "best practices" doc here (or anywhere?) for using Money? This is a complicated piece of software. In spite of my best efforts I end up spending several hours per month maintaining it (getting it to balance basically). Whenever I attempt to use a new feature (such as budgeting) I fear for how much of a time investment it is going to cost me. Perhaps I'm just not doing something that would make my experience less painful. Thoughts? |

There are a number of people here who really help, but not with the way you posed your question above. Now, it is obvious that you are frustrated with trying to use Money. In fact, you apparently never bought the product. You got it free with your computer. Then, for no apparent reason you went out and bought Money 2002. (I assume this was a couple of years ago) What kind of data do you have in your program now? Do you maintain it continually or just put stuff in from time to time? What is it you really want to accomplish with using the product? Now, how is that for asking questions! Perhaps you are not financially motivated and expect the product to suddenly "think" for you and come out with the answers. It doesn't work that way. Bottom line, show us that you really have some knowledge of the product and have a legitimate question and you can be sure that someone here will answer and try to help you. Good luck. Steve |

| They even have a new versions out, so, by all means, go for it: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...7&loc=105&sp=1 If you look instead of blab you will see that many, many, posters here get answers.
