Actually I was only hoping that if Wachovia either had a new method or
workaround or something that MS might be able to add that to the web page
that you pasted here to let people know what they can do if they run into
problems.

Entering a Buy by hand to get started should be easy.

So they will beat on Wachovia? I don't think this is going to be an
area of concern.

Hi Cal,

Thanks, I checked out the website and that is how I downloaded the data in
the first place. It looks like you are right though. The first purchase was
in November and the second was recent. So 120 days doesn't cut it.... The
Wachovia says that the 120 day option will download everything but it didn't
so hopefully they'll have a solution.

If they do is there some way I can report it to MS?

I see that, now that I look.

I have
Tools-> Settings-> AccountSettings(global)-> DisplayAllAccountsInTheAdvancedRegister
checked.

That would be a pleasant thing.

I just looked at
http://www.microsoft.com/money/banko...okeragesOnly#1
and it says Wachovia Securities requires web download. While web
download is not as easy as Direct OFX, that can be easy enough. And
if they have a long-term OFX download that is really nice.

Thanks.

I have this account set up as an Investment Account and when I go to "change
account settings" there is on option for whether I want "Advanced" or
"Essential" register. (Incidentally those options are there for my other
accounts - checking, savings, etc... it's only this Investment account that
doesn't have those options).

Any idea why?

Also, I sent a request to Wachovia because they say there is a way to
download the entire history, so hopefully they will respond with
affirmatively so I don't have to go in and enter all of this manually.

Thanks,

Jon

What happened is that Money did not download the actual Buy
transactions with the actual amounts and dates. Those actual
transactions were too long ago, and were not available to Money now.
The amount of old transaction information available to Money will
vary from broker to broker. So Money would have put AddShares
transactions into the account Investment Transactions register after
asking you if it should update the positions for you. When it asks,
the default is "yes", so you need to be alert if the answer you want
to give is "no".

Ideally what you would do is to take the information in your
existing records, and create Buy transactions in the broker account
Investment Transactions register. Use the actual dates and amounts.
You can then Delete or Void those extra transactions that Money had
generated.

If you are not already using the "Advanced" register, you probably
want to switch to that from the "Essential" register. Also, in Money
2006 you can change whether a given register displays in multi-line
vs single-line entries using Ctrl+T to toggle that selection.
Alternatively, click View at the top of the register, and make your
choice.

Default Cost basis for stock purchases after downloading from brokerage

Hi, I am using the Trial version of Money 2006 Deluxe. I downloaded my
brokerage account statement from Wachovia Securities and when I look at the
portfolio the purchase price of some of the stocks is not correct (when I
have multiple purchases of a single stock).

Has anyone else experienced this?

Is it related to the fact that I am on the trial version?

I have seen a lot of posts on cost basis, many dealing with interest rate
yield calcs and IRA type accounts but haven't seen anything that has helped.
Please forgive me if I missed something in another discussion.

Thanks in advance for your help.
