| Thanks for the advice, I tried it and it has also worked for me. I also found out how the error was caused in the first place. I originally had set a higher amount for my monthly debt allocation than my minimum requirement, the idea being that I can continuosly add the additional amount for the remaining payments to clear the debt quicker. I suspect you were doing a simliar thing. Once I reset my plan the repayments looked about right, providing I stuck to paying the minimum monthly repayments for each debt. With the intention of paying off more than the minimum repayments each month I added the additional monthly amount again but when viewing the debt plan the original problem returned. After a bit of experimenting with the monthly allocation for debt amounts (the first slider on the Define Payment Plan page) it seems that provided the amount entered is at least £1 (I did not try it with USD but I suspect the same principles apply) below the minimum amount Money defines then the debt plan will be error free. But if the amount is higher then the debt plan is screwed up. Adjusting the amount of a one-time payment (the second slider) does not seen to recreate the problem so this seems the safest way to reduce the time the debt takes to clear. The wierd thing is that my lifetime planner still shows a big one-time payment but it is not reflected anywhere else. Resetting the debt plan has forced my debt plan to start in July so I'll have to wait until the start of July to see if the calculations sort themselves out or the problems return. I will let you know what happens and if the problems return in July. | I was trying to find some information about this on Microsoft Money's Support site, but I couldn't find anything specifically on this. I did find a toll-free number for Microsoft Money phone support and talked to a technician with no charge for the techs help. He had me try a couple of things which did not work. Then, he had me do the following and that seemed to get it to look more like it should: - Go to Tools at the top (next to Help). - Choose Settings. - Click on the Planner Settings link (about 1/2 the way down the page). - Click the Reset Debt Plan button. - Click Yes when it asks you if you want to delete the plan. - Go back to the Debt Reduction Planner page. It will be like you are starting over with a new plan. - Click Continue. - At that point, there should be no accounts in your plan. So you will need to move each of the accounts that you want in the plan into the plan. - Click Next - Choose whether you want to pay each month or which date you want to be out of debt. - Enter the appropriate amount or date according to what you chose in the previous step. - Click Next. On this page, View your debt plan, the numbers should be either correct or pretty close to what you are looking for compared to what they may have been before. I hope this works for you. It seemed to work pretty well for me. God bless. "Dominic Endean" wrote: - quote - > Thanks for the response, at least I know that I'm not the only one with this > problem. | Thanks for the response, at least I know that I'm not the only one with this problem. I been playing around with it and still haven't fixed it. I tried repairing the file, moving the accounts from the debt reduction plan and even deleting accounts from the money file. I was also advised to take any loans from the debt reduction plan as these have their own repayment schedule, but the one-time payment still remains. I'll keep checking the newsgroup in case someone else has a solution or you figure it out. If I find out I'll be sure to let you know. | I have had the same problem. I have 3 items in my debt reduction plan and 1 of them, it stated that I can pay off almost 3/4 of it in the current month. I have nowhere near that kind of money available in any of my accounts. I haven't been able to find out where Money is pulling this amount from. I will keep looking and see if I can figure this mystery out. I will keep checking this discussion just in case you come across the answer of if someone else posts here. | Has anyone experienced a problem with the debt planner. I use Money 2006 US edition and for some reason Money has entered a one-time payment of £8500 into my debt reduction plan which totally screws up my plan. I don't have that kind of money available in any of my accounts neither do I have any assets that it could be using to offset the debt. My budget shows it as part of my expenses on the homepage but when I go into the expenses part of my budget the correct amounts are displayed and the £8500 isn't present anywhere. I only found it was from the debt reduction plan when I created a lifetime plan and noticed it in the summary. I have checked other parts of Money thinking the money came from another part of my file which was integrated into the debt reduction plan but came up blank. I have looked online for a solution but could find no mention of any similiar problems. Any help would be appreciated as this is really bugging me. Regards, Dominic Endean. |
