I found that if network not enabled when 'starting' money then the
process closes when money closes.
turn off nic - start money - log in do your thing - and close money -
msmoney.exe goes away as it should
I then reopened money - no problem

I'm using the same data file that I used for M2004 with no issues. I
have no closed accounts that try to update so I suspected that it's
trying to "say goodbye" to some MS online service that I don't want/use
until it times out ( maybe a MSN passport). But the application wants
their online ads in front of me, so THAT's why it's going online. When
"investing" tab starts up and I WANT to go to Portfolio Mgr, it brings
me the Microsoft online page before showing me MY info. As I said in an
earlier note, I don't want to do so: but then again I wasn't ASKED or
even given an option in this new version to NOT go to their page.
Obviously Microsoft makes money from the ads on my screen - and "By
God, you're gonna see 'em". On the package, it should state " if you
have an internet connection this program will automatically take you to
Microsoft websites and delay you from doing what you would like to do
until we decide that you may do so. And when you are done using our
product, we will still keep a process running: we don't know why."

On the Investing page, I don't need anything but MY data.
No "Powered by Money "
No "MSN Money Investing Home"
No "Investing tips"
No "Advisor FYI (investing)"
etc

I did read here from others about less options in the new version - they
were definitely correct. The bigger issue is that apparently Microsoft
is going more and more THEIR way (pushing to MSN online services) and
don't care as to what we would like in a product that we would buy. So
they got my $20 that I paid this time - not again.

This is a problem that has been with us for a while. It is believed that it
may be related to a hanging background banking process - possibly trying to
download from a closed account. However MS can't pin it down.

running". I tried again and again. Task Mgr does show msmoney.exe - for

away, but what is it doing ? I then disabled my nic and reopened
Money - then close/open OK. Is that just me or all installs ? If you
have a broadband connection, could you try to close money 2006 , wait a
few seconds and then double-click the desktop link to reopen it - you
get same thing ?
