Based on previous years the US version of M2007 should be out in a couple of
months or so. Amazon already have "ads".

i had to do two things to fix my problem:

"When doing the repair, make sure you choose Standard File repair and
then
Level 1. Level 1 is the repair that resets customized reports." and
then, i had to do a level 2 repair on the file that i just repaired at
level 1.

doing a file-> repair-> quick, then file-> repair-> standard-> level 2 did
not fix the problem.

is it worth while to upgrade to money 2006 right now? when will the
next version be coming out?

I would try Reports-> ChangeReportSettings-> ResetReports.

Also, when you converted your Money 2005 file to Money 2006, Money
2006 left a copy of your Money 2005 file on your hard drive that was
named *.m14

You could copy that file to SB05.mny, and using
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2006\MNYCoreFiles\salv.exe" try to
make a fixed version of that file. You could apply both level 1 and
level 2 successively. That should be a repaired version of your
Money 2005 file. Then you could convert that file in Money 2006.

I would even consider QIF export and import into a new file if the
other things do not get this working right. If you decide to try
that, check back for some tips.

And if you say you don't have that option now, when you go to
Reports, what reports do you see offered? Do you see a heading that
says "Income and expenses"? What is the fifth report you see listed
under that heading?

Select
Reports-> ChangeReportSettings-> SwitchFromEssentialToAdvancedReports-> UseAdvancedReports.

i can open my file now, but i did not do anything but reboot.

i don't have in my list of canned reports the "transactions by
category" one, but it does exist in the sample file....

Try opening "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2006\sample.mny". Does
that file open correctly?

attempt to open your Money file?

i was reading through the details of the trial and it seems that it is
fully functions except in the area of exporting to another format for
importation into another program. but yes, to be clear i'm playing with
the trial now.

i still can't find this report that it is complaining about,
"Transactions by Category." There is a "Transactions by Payee" report,
but the one they are talking about.

i did a level 2 repair and here is the log:

Still the problem is here.

I can't even find this "Transactions by category" report anywhere? Does
it really exist?

i tried all this and it failed. i installed the money 2006 trial and i
still get the error. now there is more info when i send the error
report:

OK. Don't choose that one.

I forget where the report resetting was in Money 2005.
I know there was File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair tho. You
said you did a repair, but you did not say which.

Can you view the specific report and click Customize on the left?
Then Reset that particular report.
