And as to why there could be two different investments in the
download for the one real investment, there might be a RemoveShares
of oldVersion and an AddShares of new version.

No. It just takes some care. Keep an extra backup or two for the
period before you process the download.

How the download is setup will determine your best course of action.
Sometimes in such cases, the broker download considers that there
are two different securities involved. Thus, if you download the
data, Money may say that it has found an investment, and asks if it
is the same as something you already have defined, or is it a new
investment.

So before continuing with what to do in what case, do/did you get
such a thing, or was there always only a single investment in the
download for that single actual investment?

Also, while you are thinking of it, I suggest you increase the
number of backups that Money keeps for you.

In M06: Tools-> Settings-> BackupOptions
I suggest checking
x Automatically backup my Money file every time I close Money
Save in [a place on your hard drive ]
x Ask me before backing up each time*
x Compress Backup Files
Keep only the _20_most recent backup files [adjust to taste]

Unfortunately, I do download so I'm trying to resolve the changes
downloaded. Would it be best at this point, to just create a "buy"
transaction with the origial cost of the stock so I keep the same
basis?

If you don't download transactions, go to the investment Details.
Change the symbol.
Then in the left hand column, UpdatePrices-> RecordASplit.

If you want a pair of integers to express the split ratio, post the
ratio that you are trying to achieve.

Default Stock changed from bankruptcy

I own a stock which originally had a symbol IES which filed for
bankruptcy a few months ago. Recently it came out of bankruptcy but
changed symbols and I had to exchange my old stock for fewer shares of
the new stock. Could someone please advise how I handle these changes
in MSM2006?
