| Original Equipment Manufacturer - OEM Another way of saying Not Retail In the case of software it means it was bundled with the PC. I do not know if my M06 is behaving as you describe but if it is I do not notice it. I have that box unchecked. Have small stock and investments to watch lists. I run Mny when needed and stop it when finished and unneeded. arthur == On 26 May 2006 16:11:48 -0700, "Borty" <maynard.williams[at]gmail.comwrote: - quote - > 14.0.100.1105, purchased in New Zealand. | Beware - most OEM support desks will tell you to contact MS and MS, very correctly, will tell you to contact the hardware manufacturer. Unfortunately the OEM desks usually haven't got a clue so you are out of luck! :-( -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | To answer the easy bit - OEM means that the software has been supplied by the PC manufacturer. They have bought it from Microsoft for peanuts and as part of the deal they undertake to provide support not Microsoft. The logic is that as MS don't support the software they can afford to sell cheaply. Your serial number indicates that it is probably part of the Works package (see http://money.mvps.org/faq/article/92.aspx) As far as I know you have done everything to stop downloads but there may be a gem hidden in http://money.mvps.org/faq/default.aspx -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | My version of Money is Microsoft Money Delux OEM Edition, 14.0.100.1105, purchased in New Zealand. I'm not sure what the OEM stands for but in case it's a UK version I've also posted this on the UK Money news group. I've just upgraded to this version from Money 2004. The problem is that Money updates stock quote prices every few minutes and I can't stop it. I've gone to Tools> Settings> Investment settings> Portfolio Manager and unchecked "Update price information every _minutes" but it still keeps downloading updates. I also tried setting the updates to long intervals (200 minutes) but this doesn't stop more frequent updates. I'd really appreciate some help on this. |
