Good idea for quantifying how well it matches but, if it doesn't, the OP
still doesn't have a simple means within Money of reallocating.

Here is an idea. finance.yahoo has a Technical Analysis page that can
compare investments, eg http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ta?s=MDY
is the mid-cap ETF

Instead use the fund or other investment ticker and check the S&P
Nasdaq Dow boxes. Narrow it down to the best fit. You can also use
other indexes like MDY for the midcap. Yahoo has lots of pure indexes
which have a ^prefix.

Now you will know how well your fund matches - or does not match - any
real index.

You don't.

It doesn't.

The asset allocation tool in Money permits each investment to be assigned
wholly to Large, Mid, Small, MoneyMarket/Cash, Bond, or 'Other' categories.
If you have a balanced fund, for example, it cannot match the tool
allocation. Most mutual funds have some cash on hand to pay out
redemptions, so never are 100% invested. That, also, doesn't synch with the
tool's design.

If you invest in index funds, it works well enough. Likewise, if you decide
that your fund's actual allocation is close enough to Money's allocation
categories, you're okay with that, too. Otherwise, it simply is not
sophisticated enough to be more precise.

Personally, I configure the Portfolio Value by Investment Type report to
subtotal by account, export that to Excel. I characterize the investments
(all mutual funds) using Morningside's Lg/Mid/Small and Growth/Blend/Value
grid, and calculate the relative proportion in my target categories.
Perhaps you can do something similar.

Default Asset Allocation Chart

I am using Money 2004. Have few mutual funds entered in M-2004 but the
asset allocation pie chart displayed is wrong. I am unable to fix by
manually changing it. I thought if you give the ticker symbol. Money
will be intelligent enough to grab the information from the Net and
update the chart properly.

For example - For the Total Stock market Index fund -- pie chart shows
all the fund as part of Large Cap. It should split it into Large, Mid
and Small cap looking at ticker symbol. How do I fix this problem? Does
Money 2006 address this issue?
