| Hello, I have exactly the same problem and discussed it many times on this site. I open 2 tickets with Microsoft Tech Support for the same problem - because first time - I never got fix or work around recommendation back, even after 2 month of e-mails. Every time Tech. Support starts from scratch even I referred to the first Service Request. My advice - open Service Request of your own with them, may be they will give more attention to this problem. You can do it on: http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...1&gprid=321299 Good luck to us. Let us know how it's going. |

| I believe expired or closed option positions do not display a ticker. i don't keep them around too long so don't have any closed to review. Keeping expired / closed Options is meaningless with MS Money since it is mostly lame. Money does not have the brains to match the underlying to a series of Options for any kind of meaningful post mortum. OTOH, OptionsXpress does keep such historical information. The Option .tickers are downloaded correctly and is not the problem. I would need to study the actual .ofx file to see who is at fault. Not sure I want to spend time on this as I do not have that much option activity that it would be worth the effort and follow through for a fix. arthur == On Fri, 12 May 2006 09:26:33 -0500, Cal Learner-- MVP <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote: ot. - quote - > Thus "VMFAJ" would be entered as ".VMFAJ". Yes, except for the edit part: you cannot edit the type of the> 3. Please do advise if there is any way to see the properties of any of the > security entered in Money and to edit or delete it provided of course there > is no recorded transaction in that security. security. To change what you can, go to the investment details. Right-clicking any reference is one way to get to the details for the investment. I see Portfolio-> WorkWithInvestments-> ChooseASpecificInvestment does not exist in Money 2006, but Portfolio-> WorkWithInvestments-> DeleteAnInvestment does. For quote download, the option symbol must be preceded by a dot. Thus "VMFAJ" would be entered as ".VMFAJ". Also, whenever an option expires and before you delete any security, be sure to blank out the symbol. |

| 1. The Option on downloading displays the proper details e.g. CALL Abbott Laboratories$45 Exp 1/21/06, however as stated earlier it is not recognised as an investment. The entry shows up in the Cash Register as well as Buy to Open : CALL ... the item does not show up in the holdings in the portfolio. So far the only way I have found is to go to each and every individual transaction, slightly change the description so that the dialog box to set up the Option and its underlying security etc open up and then enter it. This does fix the problem but it is cumbersome. 2. I am using Money 06 Premium. 3. Please do advise if there is any way to see the properties of any of the security entered in Money and to edit or delete it provided of course there is no recorded transaction in that security. | I have the same problem. M06 W2K. My broker is OX (optionsxpress) if that has any bearing. This issue is concerned with automaticly adding new investments via OFX auto d/l from the broker. The option does not appear in the summary from the My ... home page. Right clicking on the option from the Transaction view does not display the "Go to Investment: ..." option. You have to find it in the list of investments and then you can get to its Investment page and enter everything like Strike, and Expiration ( which is always wrong when creating an option and must be corrected ). Then you have to add the Underlying to the Watch List and then you can match the option to the underlying ... which is a total waste of time since MS Money makes no connection between an underlying and the option. As I have said here before, MS Money Investments is an after thought mostly as a marketing (advertising) device. I always modify the option name to include the year. Calling an option XYZ May 25 Call will screw you next year if you trade the same option. I use XYZ May06 25 Call as the name. I do this when the list of downloaded transactions is displayed in my Accept process. arthur == On Thu, 11 May 2006 13:21:02 -0500, Cal Learner-- MVP <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, vkm wrote: > > I find that some of the OPTIONS downloaded from the broker statement do > > appear in the list of transactions but are absent from the Portfolio summary > > of that period. |

How did they appear when the transactions got downloaded, and what> appear in the list of transactions but are absent from the Portfolio summary > of that period. kind of related transactions are in yours register now? You are talking about listed options I suspect. - quote - > Apparently Money did not recognise those transactions as OPTIONS and
Not per se. | I find that some of the OPTIONS downloaded from the broker statement do appear in the list of transactions but are absent from the Portfolio summary of that period. Apparently Money did not recognise those transactions as OPTIONS and therefore did not record them accordingly. Please advise how to fix this problem so that Money recognises these transactions as securities. Further more please advise if it is possible to edit the properties of any particular security i.e. change the ticker symbol or change from PUTS to CALLS et The dialog "More ivesting tasks - View all investment activities" presents a list of securities to choose from. What is to be done if the desired scurity is not included in the list. |
