| Not familar with the java development package but that is interesting. I assume you don't remember so I will try to find it. The IE and java problems is very old and related to Gate's anti-java position and NIH (not invented here) attitude. So IE has it own flavor and version of java which naturally is not 100% java compatible. arthur == On Wed, 3 May 2006 14:52:08 -0700, W. O. | Working with "Sample" is not a problem. I can open/close it and do repairs, budgeting, etc. The problem seems to be specific to using my household bank accounts. I've even tried creating new files and populating them from MSN Money, but I end up with the file crashing as I exit again. | Actually, there is an article in the knowledge base relating to having difficulties with MS Money with the Sun Java SDK installed. That's specifically why I mentioned it. | Try the sample.mny file ... just open and close it. If that works I would make a copy of it with a different name eg test.mny and open and see if you can make the copy crash. Let's see how the above works or doesn't. I know people who have had problems related to updating XP. But, one thing at a time. arthur == On Wed, 3 May 2006 09:27:02 -0700, W. O. Wheeler <W. O. | To Bill Gates Sun is the enemy and you can bet your ranch there is no connection between Sun JRE and MS anything application. Btw, never enable Sun JRE for IE. arthur == On Wed, 3 May 2006 09:27:02 -0700, W. O. Wheeler <W. O. | Well, I guess I'll stop jecking around now. I tried to create a new file and Money decided that the opening balance for my account was $110,000 & change. I don't know where it came up with that figure (maybe your boss is secretly hiding his money in my account! ) but it took the better part of 45minutes to track down the error and try to recall what the opening balance was from five years ago (my bank only keeps 3 years worth of records available, and so do I). I'm working from a "best guess" right now that looks PRETTY close and I'll adjust it later as necessary. Thanks for your help, Cal Learner. Maybe the next release of Money will actually be reliable. I've had so many problems with this release it makes me wish I used Quicken. "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, W. O. | salv.exe can open the file, but reports nothing wrong with it (I did a level 2 repair). I can open a different file and exit out of it with no problem, and can also open an old file (previous version of Money) with no problems. It looks like something to do with this file. Is there a limit to the number of accounts Money Premium can manage? "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, W. O. Try a new test file with a new name to see if the problem follows> has no effect (that is, the problem still occurs). the install or the file. You may want to try the repair tool invoked as salv.exe, from your install directory. |

| There is only one copy of pfplan.dll on my system and it is 390,144 bytes long and is version 15.0.0.513. msmoney.exe is in the same folder path (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2006\MNYCoreFiles) and is 70,144 bytes at the same version as pfplan.dll Yes, I'm running with an Administrator account (I know I really shouldn't, but it's easy and I have other protections in place...). I would search your system to see if there are any copies that are where they might be in a search path. My Money 2006 copy is 390,144 bytes long. In a command window, you can do dir \pfplan.dll /s to do the search. Are you running Money as an administrator? You should not have to, but I thought I would ask. |

| If I try to start a tool such as file repair, or budget planner or even simply exit MS Money 2006 Premium, I get an error that msmoney.exe cased a page fault in pfplan.dll and money needs to restart. If I've put in any data changes, they are saved, but things like forms layouts (e.g. - show transaction forms in an account) are not saved. This has been happening for about a month now, and I've been through every knowledge base article I can find on the topic (including ones on removing & reinstalling Money, which I've done about a dozen times now) with no change. MS Money 2006 Premium is the only application that seems to have any problems at this time, including several disk, video and RAM intensive applications. The only change I can find that seems related is a series of updates to Windows XP Pro from about the end of March. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to correct this? Tech Specs: Platform: Cyberpower PC with an MSI MS-6570 system board, an AMD Athlon 3000+ processor, 2GB RAM, RAID-0 SATA disk array, MSI Nvidia Gforce-6200 video card, Creative SoundBlaster Audigy-2 sound card. OS: Windows XP Pro (version 5.1.2600) with all patches Environment: Other apps running - Lavasoft Personal Firewall, Eset Software NOD32 antivirus, Epson Printer monitor, Webshots Desktop & screensaver (note that all of these have been on the system since well before this problem occurred). No Sun Java is present. No SDKs (Java or otherwise) are installed. |
