| Think of that asset just like a dollar is an asset. When you display the asset you can click Investment Activities - top left panel - and it will show every account that owns some of that asset. Each account in the portfolio will show what assets are owned by that account including cash. arthur == On Sun, 30 Apr 2006 13:07:01 -0700, Cenan <Cenan[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > Therefore I must combine the total shares owned into one investment. | But yes, you define the Investment once. Just like it only appears in the newspaper once. That has zero to do with how many accounts can have separate positions in that investment. | No it wouldn't be my answer. I own the same investment several times over in several different accounts with no problems and with the ability to track performance and the account holding separately for each account holding the common investments. I conclude you don't want to understand my--indeed the--answer. | Therefore I must combine the total shares owned into one investment. That would be your answer nothwithstanding the news paper example. -- Cecil "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > You DON'T enter the symbol twice to track the investment in two accounts any > more than the newspaper quotes it twice because you have it in two accounts. > See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=59. > "Cenan" <Cenan[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:091E996F-EE06-4FC1-8380-355F1020ED9B[at]microsoft.com... > > using Money 2001. > > I own OPPAX (symbol entered, displayed and tracked in Money). | You DON'T enter the symbol twice to track the investment in two accounts any more than the newspaper quotes it twice because you have it in two accounts. See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=59. | using Money 2001. I own OPPAX (symbol entered, displayed and tracked in Money). My IRA owns OPPAX also, but Money rejects adding the tracking symbol in two places - my IRA and my purchased shares . Money reports as a duplicate and does not allow the symbol to be entered. How can I track my personal shares SEPERATE from the IRA account (i.e. enter the symbol twice?). I am required to manually update the IRA value but the account with the OPPAX symbol updates fine via the internet. Thanks -- Cecil |
