http://www.gummy-stuff.org/Yahoo-data.htm

I don't have excel installed so have not played with this. I came
across the link in one of the misc.invest nntp groups.

A most interesting site for other toys and information. Seems to be a
totally safe site afa I can determine.

I would certainly be interested in this! If you know where to find the
spreadsheets, I'd appreciate you posting the location.

Well, Yahoo has an API you can access from Excel if they have the
desired indexes. They do have a lot. Prefix index tickers with the ^
character. I can look up the site that has Excel spreadsheets to
interface with Yahoo if you post a request here.

Right you are.

In the beginning there was Quicken. A method of using the power of
the internet to track one's checking account. Then Greedy Gates said,
hey those sobs are making money with that! Grab that business and if
that doesn't work write one we can sell. Hey, those sobs are now
tracking investments too. Do it! NOW!

Careful with that. The share price of GLD is now less than 10% of the price
of an ounce of gold. The ratio of prices will continue to change over
time, and the changes will occur at unpredictable times.

This is how expenses are assessed on shareholders by the people who
manage GLD. They have the right to extract their expenses at any time
they wish.

A related peeve for MS Money: The software does not have a rich enough
set of asset classes. You can label an investment as cash, bond, small
cap, large cap, and not too much else. I would like, at a minimum, to
be able to label assets as "precious metals" or "commodities" as well.
I believe that any prudent saver in these times needs exposure to
these types of investments (or are they savings?). As usual, if you
hold them, you have to keep track of them. Come on Microsoft, give us
a few more asset classes!

NYMEX http://www.nymex.com/index.aspx shows commodity prices,
including gold and silver (ticker GC, SI), but does seem to be
connectable to msmoney.

You could look up the prices at NYMEX and enter them manually
into msmoney....

You could track the price of gold using Street Tracks ticker GLD. The
price is 10% of the spot gold price Just put it in the WatchList.

Money does not do Futures. If you can find an index for it, you can
track it.
