| Well, I already suspected that as well. That's why my first recommendation was to consider the suggestions in http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=104 "RayBurnley" <RayBurnley[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F77905C3-09AC-483C-BB76-F4FADF1B1246[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Thanks, Dick, but I already know that the problem is in the data file |

| Thanks, Dick, but I already know that the problem is in the data file - in fact I have managed to restore my last backup datafile (from the beginnibng of April) and have got a working record there, having restored a good bit manually from my paper records (Bank statements etc). Unfortunately I have lost about 3 to 4 weeks data in my day to day cash file records These are all in the corrupt file (which I have stored away in case someone can come up with a solution) but these contain a lot of detail I simply cannot restore without getting the data from the dodgy file. -- Ray Burnley "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > Consider trying the repair tools described in > http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=104. > Try opening the sample file. | Consider trying the repair tools described in http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=104. Try opening the sample file. This may help confirm whether your installation has the problem or your data file has it. Try flushing the IE cache. | I've posted this on the Money UK site but with no reaction ; I wonder if I can reach a larger audience on here - I'm desperate to sort this out, thanks. --------------------------------------------------------- On running Money, I received a message "Money has encountered a problem and needs to close" - no indication of what the problem was. I couldn't get past the splach screen I found article 836197 in the knowledge base which seems to covers this ; did what it advised, even to the extent of doing an uninstall and re-install, but no joy. I then copied the data file across to my laptop (on which Money was working O.K. but unfortunately hadn't been updated since January) and when I ran the programme with the main file got the same message. Reverting to my older ("laptop") file, all loaded O.K.again. I tried repairing the file, using the Standard setting and received the message "Invalid Databse". Unfortunately, whilst I thought that I had Money set to backup each night it seems that hasn't been the case for a month - I don't know why but i'll investigate that if and when I can get this problem sorted. In the meantime, can anyone suggest how I can recover this file or at least the entries that are in it ? Thanks -- Ray Burnley |
