Tools-> Options-> Security-> LocalIntranet-> DefaultLevel which may be sufficient. If that does not let you updated, and if you are using XP, I would try creating a new user with Administrator privilege. Switch to that user and start Money with a new blank file. Let Money download the updates as that user. The theory is that if the problem is an IE6 setting, you will get default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and your regular IE6 settings will not have been changed. - quote - > It seems that a 160gb drive throws it for a loop, or the error catching of > the code is poor and neither is really the issue. > I have not tested this on another PC yet, but it > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, RubyOfOz wrote: > > > > I upgraded to a new PC and reinstalled Money 2005 -- the on-line update > > > failed asking if I was still on the internet or if I had less than 100mb of > > > free space. > > > Either open the sample.mny file in your install folder, or let > > Money 2005 create a new Money file, clicking Decline in the > > process. | Cal: The update fails -- with the new file created -- it takes time to download. Gets to 100% and then displays a message to check if I am still connected to the internet (which I am) or that I need 100mb of space. It seems that a 160gb drive throws it for a loop, or the error catching of the code is poor and neither is really the issue. I have not tested this on another PC yet, but it "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, RubyOfOz wrote: > > I upgraded to a new PC and reinstalled Money 2005 -- the on-line update > > failed asking if I was still on the internet or if I had less than 100mb of > > free space. > Either open the sample.mny file in your install folder, or let > Money 2005 create a new Money file, clicking Decline in the > process. Either open the sample.mny file in your install folder, or let> failed asking if I was still on the internet or if I had less than 100mb of > free space. Money 2005 create a new Money file, clicking Decline in the process. It will do an update. Close Money. Then open Money and check that Help-> About... says you then have version 14.0.*.1105. Then you should be able to open or restore your existing files. |

| I upgraded to a new PC and reinstalled Money 2005 -- the on-line update failed asking if I was still on the internet or if I had less than 100mb of free space. I was still connected to the internet. I have 145GB of free space. I tried lowering the Windows XP SP2 firewall. I tried lowering the internet security. Still get the error -- after download is complete -- that the upgrade can not complete. My gut reaction is poor coding on the detection routine for free space. Is there any options for getting around this issue? |
