I suggest you change the category before accepting the transactions,
and see if Money catches on.

If you haven't already, consider:

Tools> Account Settings> UseAutoComplete
Tools> Online Service Settings> Replace downloaded payee names...
Tools> Online Service Settings> Show standardized payee names...

Also, go to Payees> Payee Rules Manager. Edit the excluded names list to
include the description of our ATM withdrawals, if consistent. If
inconsistent only in an ATM #, such as "W/D CASH ATM 4567", "Show
standardized payee names" will affect that in a positive way.

Consider editing the Preferred payee name field so inconsistent download
descriptions will be recognized and grouped together as a single payee.
Editing the payee description in the register, before accepting, should do
that for you though.

Do you have Tools> Online Service Settings> Automatically accept...
checked? If so, you're editing the transactions AFTER money has categorized
and saved them. I doubt if it learns very well, that way. Better not to
have that check, and edit where necessary before accepting. If this is the
case, you may find the payee and category match improves.

Default Training MS Money 2006 to categorize transactions

I would like to train MS Money 2006 to "learn" how to categorize some
downloaded transactions differently. For instance, Money always
categorizes "Quick Chek" entries as groceries, when I would like them
to be (and have to change it manually) "Dining Out". Same thing for
cash withdrawals (no auto match) and gasoline purchases (Money will
match it to Automobile, but not the "gasoline" subcategory).
Is there a way to help Money learn my preferred matches? I have been
using this instance of Money for over 8 months.
