| You should not create a new investment when you add an investment to a second portfolio. Choose the existing investment from the dropdown list. If you have a lot of historical data recorded under two different names for the same security, I'm not sure there is an easy way to merge them. Normally you create a security only once. Thereafter choose it from> portfolio of mutual fund & stock investments in each. However, some accounts > share at least one identical fund or stock. In your case, you should change each transaction for the same> being used as a symbol for 'investment x' Please use a different symbol". Since you already have some clones of the security, the work-around would be to create a big fake AddShares of the clone that pre-dates the other transactions. Then change each real transaction of the clone to the real security, starting with the oldest. Then delete the fake AddShares. Rename the clone to something you will never want to use. Make sure the symbol is blanked. At that point you can delete the clone. The easy way to find the investments in each clone is to go to right-click any transaction for that investment, and choose GoToInvestment. Then click InvestmentActivities in the left column. You can even add the fake AddShares and delete it when done from that view. |

| I have set up several different investment accounts with diversified portfolio of mutual fund & stock investments in each. However, some accounts share at least one identical fund or stock. I have retroactively entered in fund or stock symbols to enable online price updates. I am now encountering the following error message: " 'stock x' is already being used as a symbol for 'investment x' Please use a different symbol". I, perhaps hastily, deleted one of the accounts in an effort to start fresh, however, Money seems to remember this deleted account and I encounter the same error. At this point only one of my accounts will support automatic downloads for the stock x. My other accounts with stock x in the portfolio require manual price adjustments. Can anyone suggest a workaround for this problem? |
