| It's that left panel that bugs me, unfortunately. I don't want all those little "helpful" links. I would just like to get rid of some of the clutter. BTW: I had a budget all worked out in Money 2003. Money 2006 has messed that up. Perhaps the conversion program didn't work properly. I am going to get a trial version of Quicken. I used to use Quicken and was persuaded to try Money, I think, in 1998. I liked the Money programs until now. | I'm not sure what link you are referring to. I'm talking about data within Microsoft Money itself. | You can tailor the "home" screen. I removed all the junk I did not want or use. | A design change and a "standards" thing so no cure except use separate files if that is what you want. Don't know what you mean by "file lines". All linked bank accounts and joint accounts get pulled in but you can choose to ignore I think by not setting them up. At least they don't bother me. I use the "favorite accounts" thing to show what I want. arthur == On Wed, 19 Apr 2006 06:47:02 -0700, Microsoft 2003 v. 2006 <Microsoft 2003 v. 2006[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > 3. | The update button is now on the upper right below the menu and tools bars. It is a little round button. I have M06 and have not had one case of your problem and have not seen it here except for a system shutdown. Must be something unique to your system or data. arthur == On Wed, 19 Apr 2006 06:47:02 -0700, Microsoft 2003 v. 2006 <Microsoft 2003 v. 2006[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > 5. | There is always the 30DMBG if you preserved your fallback capability to M03. Care to share a link to the data you are referring to? I also would note that you should decide for yourself about M06, not decide you made a mistake from reading the opinions of others. Particularly in the case of Money, what people expect of it is varied about 359 degrees. Some people just want a account view aggregator and think Money is too hard to use and requires too much effort. Some of us think it's way too simplified and inflexible and dumbed down. Some people just want an advertising delivery engine. The first and third groups seems to get all of the attention from Microsoft. | In Microsoft Money 2003, I had the following experiences: 1. Hardly ever shut down involuntarily. Money 2006 has shut down three times in as many days. 2. Money 2003 would automatically update daily. I have to manually update Money 2006 even though I have selected the automatic function. 3. Money 2003 kept my three different files separate. Money 2006 brings them all under one roof, so to speak, displaying banking information across file lines. 4. Money 2003 had a simplified screen. Money 2006 displays information I don't want and gives me no way to eliminate that information. The cluttered view leaves limited space to enter data and looks hokey. 5. Money 2003 had a "button" in the lower left hand corner to click either to view download summaries or to update data. Money 2006 requires you to pull down the tools menu. The involuntary shut-downs are hassle enough by themselves. If anyone has any ideas about how to correct any of the above, I would sure appreciate the information. Thank you. |
