| I think it verges on greed when microsoft puts a time limit on down load of stock or mutual fund updates. Especially when they are free a this link "http://www.gummy-stuff.org/Yahoo-data.htm" I use Excell to update my mutual fund data for extensive evaluation without microsofts greedy BS. Also Quicken does not put this restriction on theirsoftware as far as I know. So again after comparing quicken to money-- quicken is more accurate and useful for my needs. The more I think about it Excell could beat them all if one wants to write their own macros-- I'm getting more tempted when I get more time to do so. One would think that as important as accounting software is, Microsoft would be more responsible and less greedy towords the folks. It is terrible when one keeps years worth of data on their finances while there is a strong possibility that the software will do strange things that creates the possiblity of corrupting that data. That is why I used two financial programs together to minimizes that risk. Now I am using Quicken and programming Excell to track my stuff. Money does not provide the reliabilty that I need. Also I am hedging my bets with Quicken with my macros in Excell. | Only reason I switched the other way is because Q does not attempt to handle stock options nor update their prices even if they are wrong most of the time, except on active options. The auto download account update is also important cuz otherwise it is not worth my time. This is the reason I am rejecting AceMoney. So, to each his or her own devices. arthur == On Wed, 19 Apr 2006 09:02:02 -0700, dave10a <dave10a[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > I have been running MS Money and Quicken in parallel for 6 months to > determine which money manager is the most reliable. | I have been running MS Money and Quicken in parallel for 6 months to determine which money manager is the most reliable. After experiencing the unreliability of the mutual fund updates in Money( again) and other basic accounting issues, I have become most displeased with MSoft Money and I have elected to go Quicken. It has its problems, but reliabilty of the data is not one of them. How can I trust Msoft to make an accurate accounting of my investments and real time tax status. Quicken has not let me down yet. Fortunately it is easy to swicth over to Quicken because I have been running in parrellel from the beginning. I guess my cynical nature payed off :-) "Brian Cleaver" wrote: - quote - > Online updates for all Canadian mutual funds stopped on 4/13/06. I track 48 > stocks, mutual funds and indexes. | I had the M03 and that Standard edition (version?) has a 1 yr automatic download and the Deluxe has a 3yr. Now the M06 is 2yrs Deluxe. I do not think manual downloads are time limited. Shrinking candy bar. I have US versions, no non US exchange investments, and no mutual funds so was just hip shooting. This sounded like a possible MS change of data supplier ... some quotes worked, some didn't. arthur == On Tue, 18 Apr 2006 21:09:52 -0400, "ga" <gashfordjr[at]hotmail.comwrote: - quote - > I have Microsoft Money 2004 Standard Edition. | I have Microsoft Money 2004 Standard Edition. According to the license agreement the updates are good for 2 years,"Microsoft Money 2004 Standard: The earlier of two (2) years after your activation of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT or September 1, 2006. The problem is not the expiration of the automatic updates or that someone has an OEM edition (which I don't). The problem is Micrsoft was a bug which shows up way too much. | By OEM do you mean it was preinstalled on the PC when it was purchased? If so you are probably stuck. US Mutual funds can be tracked at the moringstar site in a portfolio with a free signup. The Std edition ceases automatic updates in 1 year from install date but that might not apply to updating stock prices. arthur == On Tue, 18 Apr 2006 16:20:02 -0700, Brian Cleaver <BrianCleaver[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > Online updates for all Canadian mutual funds stopped on 4/13/06.
