| Wasn't there a recent thread about overheating? Anyway, spontaneous reboots on laptops are often due to a fan hardware failure or other problem that prevents the fan from recognizing an overheating condition. Money requires more processing power than most other programs, so an incipient overheating condition is likely to manifest there first. It doesn't sound like file corruption to me, but there are many people here who know more than I do. They may feel differently, but you might want to check it out first. | Do you have another system / CP you can use? I have seen software crashs and problems caused by undetected hardware failures. You should still have your pre M06 update backups created when you updated and opened the old files, so all is not lost especially if you have an installable old version. arthur == On Thu, 13 Apr 2006 10:21:01 -0700, Tom <Tom[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > Looking for some help and assistance correcting an apparently corrupt Money > file that results in my laptop rebooting when I have Money open (but not > immediately on open). | In microsoft.public.money, Tom wrote: - quote - > 3) How can I fix it? Try deleting transactions in the problem accounts in a COPY of your file until the symptom disappears. Identify the problem transactions, and delete them. Re-enter them. Alternatively, print out your registers. File-> Export those two accounts. Delete the problem accounts. Then File-> Import the QIF files. Fix up the messed up transfers that result. Remember to keep copies in case you want to undo something. |

| Looking for some help and assistance correcting an apparently corrupt Money file that results in my laptop rebooting when I have Money open (but not immediately on open). Worked with MS support to try file repair (level 2 fails), then selectively deleted the accounts that appeared to cause problem (Amex and Schwab). Repair files executes successfully when accounts are deleted. Trouble is, I need them, and have been using Money as my personal finance software since 2001. 1) Is this a known problem? 2) Is is related to Money 2006, that I upgraded to 2 weeks ago? 3) How can I fix it?
