Beyond perhaps holding period, does Mny really understand which
dividends are and are not fully or partially qualified? They go to
schedule D too.

Don't mean to sound less negative than I am wrt connecting Mny to
taxes except perhaps as a reminder of items which may have tax
considerations especially items which are not reported by others to
the taxing authorities. To have Mny automagically export to tax
software takes a giant leap of faith which I do not have.

Does it really understand the complexities of investments? How about
options and Futures ( which it doesn't understand at all ).

Anyway I use TaxAct and not what MS is selling or rather marketing ...
anythig for a buck.

What Money program are you using? What tax program, if any, are you
using?

Do you want Money to provide your Dividend information for schedule
B dividend data that it has? It can. Usually you would use the 1099
data for that. Money is quite valuable to provide the schedule D
info.

IMO using a program like Money for auto tax entries where the
financial institution, employer, etc sends you tax statements is
asking for lots of trouble and pain. Good grief, Charlie Brown!

Default Investment activities and tax reporting

I have an investment account. There are some transactions in it which
correspond to 'Activity = Dividend'. Their amounts are 'transfer'ed to a
checking account. In the checking account, I see 'Category = Transfer From :
investment account'. These transactions cannot be added to a 'tax line'. I
can't have these transactions automatically picked up for my tax report. Am
I missing something? What is the intent of the design of Money regarding
these transactions and tax reporting?
