Money only copies that information into your computer and updates the bank with any changes you make. Log on to your bank's website and try to change the payee's name there. Chances are you cannot, which is why Money is giving you that error. |

I think most banks that offer that service do (all that I've encountered any ways). Check closely after you enter your online banking link on the bank's web site. Jim |

These payees aren't always banks; in fact I have only one bank set up in Money. There is no way from the "other side" to change the name that I can see. The electronic payees include my local gas & electric company as well as credit cards that are not held at any bank in Money's list. So that comment unfortunately doesn't help much. Thanks though. | Why not create a new payee named "Providian VISA" and start using it for all future payments. I have resorted to that on a few in the past. There are ways of making electronic payee name changes but I found its not worth the potential troubles. Making Money a quality product is not Microsoft's current or future objective. There is just not enough $$ in Money for them. "David Walker" <None[at]none.com> wrote in message news:Xns97A0BB9BA34A5DWalker[at]216.234.192.142... I'm using Money Standard 2003, which seems to work pretty well overall. I named a couple of payees poorly when I started -- I named one payee Providian Visa Gold. Now it's a Plantium card; Providian upgraded the card for me. The name is now confusing to me when I pay the bill. Apparently if a payee has ever been paid electronically, it can't be renamed. Why in blazes not? I suppose I will set up a new payee and remove the old one. Is this limitation still present in current versions of MS Money? Thanks. David Walker |
